I haven't finished listening yet, but this is really fun episode so far! And I'm one of those people who *would* like to know more about 14th-century Bohemia! 😄
AND WE'RE LIVE!!!!!

Welcome to American Medieval! Our first episode sees @profgabriele.com talk with the amazing @goingmedieval.bsky.social about what got us interested in the Middle Ages, why Czech history is super cool, and why Dan Brown drives us nuts

A new video up from Südtirol in Concert!

I often close my eyes to listen to concerts, but the violinist here is nearly dancing. It's marvelous.

Ludwig van #Beethoven (1770-1827) #Violin #Sonata No. 4 in A minor op. 23

Antje Weithaas - violin
Thomas Hoppe - piano

Does this apply to most six-month-old cats, or only the most troublesome 25%? 🤣
“But it’s me shaped it I curl up”
And yes it is but if I had one of those toddler games where I have to find the triangle block to push through the triangle hole, you would find a way to be triangle-hole-shaped

Kind of a "bad inkjet printer" #SkyPic! 😁

(I think it's neat.)

I stuffed myself with pizza and have watched half of a werewolf movie that's... I think it's terrible? But it might just need the right music to be funny?

Holy cow, what a #SkyPic!
The Northern Lights were visible all the way from Anza-Borrego Desert with the eyes yesterday evening. The camera sees better in this case. This was about 9 pm yesterday evening looking towards the Santa Rosa Mountains. Note that the sun sets here at 4:45 pm, so these were not sunset colors!

It has not gone according to plan.

Flat tire.

The new plan is for Friday.

I think I'm gonna order pizza and cry over my pepperoni.
Holy shit. If all goes according to plan, I'll have a cat again about 18 hours from now.

Tearing up.

Tangent: I'd like to know more about what puts girls at risk for trafficking like this. Clearly in addition to the rape culture, corruption, elite male protection issues, we are failing a lot of girls who are in shitty situations of one kind or another.
While also protecting their privacy.

Until & unless they come forward, we must respect their choices to keep their private life their own. Being a public victim is hard and life-devastating.

Virginia Giuffre as the proxy for all the victims respects her choice, and we can’t hurt her further.
But what alarms me in all this is how the girls who were victimized by these men are largely forgotten. I want us to find ways of centering them in the discourse.

Waiting for my new kitty, so a bit like a shed antler caught in a small tree in a gentle breeze.
Which best matches your mood?
- sad/happy
- deflated balloon
- disgruntled dragon
- antler on the forest floor
- mossy ruins in the rain
- ghost in the fog

I stumbled across this on bandcamp. I'm not great at describing things. Lively choral folk music!

Northern Lights / Aurora Borealis #SkyPic (s)!
Last night in southern Wisconsin was great when there were some actual breaks in the clouds.

I need to share some of the Northern Lights pics, but here's a charming #SkyPic that's got an anti-November feel!

I tried a holiday vanilla coke. I think I like regular vanilla coke more, but it's been a while.

Anyway. I randomly forgot how to swallow or something and got to have holiday Coke come out my nose.

I switched to the "triple shot" mocha.

I went for a short drive. Maybe I didn't get far enough into the country, but I didn't see even a hint of the northern lights. Maybe there's too much light pollution. Maybe we have some light cloud cover here. I didn't see any stars even in the darker spots on my drive.

I don't have the nerve to...

Ooooh, #Nashville!
Are you planning on removing any pesky invasive species this month? Be sure to snap a photograph and get a free native plant seedling from the TN-IPC! Yay native plants! 🌳

It’s Veteran’s Day.
They deserve a day, to be housed, fed, and have medical/psychiatric care. They deserve a living wage, and to not be maimed/injured/killed because some wealthy know nothing used them like checkers. They deserve to have the careers they work hard for regardless of sex/gender/id.

$243 worth of stuff in my Amazon cart. 4 items related to filtration. And the only remotely fun thing is a pet fountain.

Well. The quad cane has a flower pattern.

(Just kind of accumulating stuff there for now. My checking account is a little sad.)

I'm not up on the stats for my county, but I think what's produced for human consumption here now is mostly pork.

And there's the distillery. They grow their own corn. And we have one or two apple orchards.

But I'm pretty sure most of what see in the fields is for feed.
It goes even deeper than this. The vast bulk of red state agriculture is corn, soybeans or seed crops.

And most of it is not for US human consumption! We export 20% of our corn, half of our soybean and seeds. The rest?

Most of it becomes oil, animal feed or….ETHANOL.

The subsidized fuel additive.
Half the fruits and vegetables in the US come from California, 75% of the nuts. The flyover states like to pretend they do much

I just noticed the pawprints. Awww.
Morning.

Mr Fox came for an early breakfast again, although judging by how empty the bowls are, he or a relative had visited earlier. The cats never clean the bowls that well, decorum dictates that you need to leave something on your plate.

I enjoyed listening to this. I gotta say, it only worked because I *very* recently got a rough idea of what "Bayesian" is.

"I'm your hollyberry."

Admittedly, "The Holly and the Ivy" wasn't a good choice for the game.
