Our growing kitten, Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit ("Butters") has two 'friends' he carries around the house, sometimes dropping them into his water bowl.

This one is Lambchop, the other is Mousie. I'm not certain if they're supposed to be his friends, his babies or his prey?
A predominantly white cat, between kitten and adult cat in age, has a white lamb stuffed animal in his mouth, with a visible tag that says "Lamb Chop". He has a startled look, because he thought I was going to take his toy away. Behind him are wooden stained stairs, and my office door. Butters the predominantly white cat with orange patches on his head and hindquarters, holds a white stuffed lamb (about the size of his head) in his mouth. He has a furtive look, as though looking to escape the guy holding the camera.

it's early, the news is already set to a rough and raggedy boil, so let's take a moment's pause to enjoy this bird eating a gravitationally irrational berry snack

Amidst leaves just touched by an early fall, a plump orange-chested robin stands gawkily on the branch of a dogwood tree, beak wide open, a red dogwood berry caught in mid-air between the chomp of that beak. As if the berry is floating there, hovering in place and time. It's not, of course -- instead, the robin is somehow tossing its snack back, the way you or I might chuck popcorn into our mouths during a movie. All the more clever here, as the robin has no hands, just long, awkward legs. All around it are clusters of red berries and leaves marked with autumnal patina. The robin has its head sort of -- well, scrunted isn't a word, but I want to say it has its head scrunted forward, in an act of bad posture. The robin should really improve its posture. Which is really me telling me I need to improve my posture and I should stop imposing judgments reserved for myself onto birds who don't deserve it. Still, robin, stand up straight, jeez. In 2014 Dutch scientists left a hamster wheel outside, to see if wild animals would use it like their domesticated counterparts.

The answer: hell yes! 734 visits from wild mice - plus rats, shrews, slugs ("running" being subjective here) & even frogs and snails.

The apparent reason: fun. Just fun.

PSA: Lemons are not naturally occurring. They are a human-made crossbreed of citrons and bitter oranges. Which means LIFE DID NOT GIVE US LEMONS. WE INVENTED LEMONS FOR OURSELVES.
