I saw a bald eagle swooping over a pond yesterday, and I was hoping to see it catch a fish. Unfortunately, it flew off before I got a photo. Oh well. Here's another bald eagle from over the summer.

When you move slowly and quietly so as not to scare off the great blue heron... and then a boat comes by and scares it off anyway.

This great blue heron portrait from a few years ago is still one of my favorites. The heron flew in on a very cold day and settled on the other side of some bushes.

I love the way its feathers are puffed up, likely for insulation.

Mink sighting!

I spotted this cutie on Sunday. I've seen mink in the same area before, but based on the white markings, I don't think I've seen this particular one before.
