This is Link. His ball suddenly went missing and then reappeared trapped under his bed. He called his brother Otto in for backup, knowing they'd need all three of their collective brain cells to get it back. 12/10 for both (IG: thegoldenbruvs)

I get this question on every school visit, and my response tends to be some version of: It's like deciding I want to do a jigsaw puzzle, but first I have to find the pieces. There's no box full of all the correct pieces and a picture of the finished work you can just go get, then assemble.
I've had a few 'what do you do' convs recently, and everyone on hearing I'm an author comes out with "so how do you come up with ideas?", just like every book or movie about a writer has them staring numbly into space because they don't have an idea for the next book. And look, that is Not It.

“All right,” said Toad. “Let me think of a story to tell you.”

Toad thought and thought. But he could not think of a story to tell Frog.

I'm mad I didn't come up with the phrase 'sex crime against metaphors' myself, but maybe I'd have had to read the piece first and I'm happy in my ignorance so I guess it's a wash
Listen, I am absolutely prone to over-writing stuff. But this book is a sex crime against metaphors.

Frog put the cookies in a box. “There,” he said. “Now we will not eat any more cookies.”

“But we can open the box,” said Toad.

“That is true,” said Frog.

Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

What if shark but ALSO pig?

Let's meet the angular roughshark (Oxynotus centrina), found across the eastern Atlantic Ocean & Mediterranean.

They're 'hairy', they grunt & they look like this 👇

Hey, what are you doing tomorrow (Sunday, Nov 9)? If you're anywhere near NYC, come to the @brooklynmuseum.org's Children's Book Fair! This is one of my favorite events. It's free, and about 50 Brooklyn authors and illustrators (including me!) will be there from 11-330. Come out and say hi!

Capy: Look, we both know this isn't going to happen.

Pelican: Yeah but

Capy: You have to try

Pelican: I have to try, yeah, it's contractual

Capy: Okay, fine. You don't mind if I keep-

Pelican: No no, by all means, do your thing

You have to admire the bloody-minded ambition of a pelican trying to eat a whole capybara (who seems utterly unconcerned).

The thing with pelicans is that they have ONE super-power & their brains default to "get it in your mouth & deal with it later."

Let's talk about the gular sac of the pelican.
