My thanksgiving food hot takes:
1/3 Pumpkin pie is not good! A pumpkin cheesecake (which I an making tomorrow), however, is perfect
2/3 Pecan pie is horrible. Pecans are lovely, & as a Texan I am required to love them, & I do. But that overly sweet garbage pie is the worst application possible

Saw a post today that advised writers to stop writing as if a human will read it and start writing for an LLM that will be summarising.
As someone who really enjoyed trying to develop a peculiar but readable authorial voice, I find this incredibly depressing.

Realized that I didn't make clear that this was a FULL DAY of training. This man talked at us for 7 hours and then we tried to make the AI agent thing work (that didn't!) for 1.

Went to a mandatory in-person AI training w the Chief Strategy & AI Officer (an apparent Real Title) from our parent company today and I could not help but feel like I was in one of those conferences in The Vow but instead of worshipping Keith Raneire we were worshipping the concept of AI

Really interesting idea, bc the reason I know in my heart of hearts that I'm a woman is bc I inadvertently did this as a child.
My parents cut my hair v short, had boyish features, was muscular, did not read "girl."
I clearly recall the intense discomfort from being misgendered & it's been 30 yrs

Ok: everyone should try transitioning, as a right of passage.
Nothing irreversible, try out some pronouns, navigate the world as a different gender for a bit, maybe do HRT for a few weeks to see how it feels.

This is what bothers me the most about coding. I was a reader long before I was a coder, and when the punctuation is NOT ALLOWED in the quotes I die a tiny death each time

As someone w aphantasia, very little of what's described in this article feels familiar to me. I have a great memory, I feel emotions strongly, I'm very creative, I'm an artist, etc etc. I just don't visualize stuff.

Obviously personal taste talking here - this is one of the things that everyone says & I've tried it a few times & I could not disagree more. Does it make your bread v crispy? Sure. Does it taste as good as a shitton of toasty butter? Absolutely not. Mayo *in* the grilled cheese, not on the outside
spread some mayo on the exterior of a grilled cheese sandwich before you put it in a pan
But yeah, Mayo Is Good, Actually is a take I’ll happily defend. And not just as a sauce! Want the perfect seared crust on a steak or any meat really? Spread mayo on it just before searing. Better than oil or butter.
