This, combined with "vice signaling" (taking pride in antisocial behavior) has given us the reign of the Stupid Asshole, something most people are against, but can only be remedied if we're not too polite to talk about it
An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

Watched Captain Phillips last night; mainly it made me wish we had more workplace shows & movies that aren’t about doctors or cops.

Also, the Crusades were mostly disasters _for Christians_ and for the Crusaders themselves. All Their Heroes Are Losers, exhibit 1,263

Far-right groups are co-opting the aesthetics of the Crusades for their own objectives, transforming an obsession with feudal justice into a campaign for a White Christian nation.

Richard Grenell's bs letter to Redd said his cancellation was "very costly to a non-profit"

Chuck Redd was supposed to play on Millennium Stage.

It was a free concert with a max capacity of 225.

Redd needs to put some "Fuck Trump" merch on his website.

1/ You don’t need to accuse Trump of being a recruited asset to reach a devastating conclusion: Trump consistently treats an adversarial autocrat (Putin) as more credible than U.S. intelligence, allied governments, and observable facts — and pressures the public to do the same.

The President of the United States appears to be getting regular IV infusions, the public doesn’t know anything about it, & the DC media evidently doesn’t care.

We are months into the mystery of Trump’s hands, the White House is lying, & I’ve seen a grand total of one serious news story about it.
Trump looked pretty rough today -- note that both of his hands are discolored

When President Trump calls Russia's invasion of Ukraine (c.500k dead) "certainly the deadliest war since WWII" I don't expect he's aware of the 1998-2003 Congo War (est. 5m dead) or even the Korean War (^5m dead).

But to overlook the American War in Vietnam, in which up to 3.8m died, seems remiss.

Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

Sometime in the 1990s or so, Democrats saw how Republicans juiced turnout by appealing to their base and went, “Wow, we should do that, too! We should appeal to the Republican base!”
What got us Trump was the GOP being a malevolent force for evil and the Democrats at every turn refusing to fire full blast at the right (including before Trump). It’s obviously not all on Harris but a cycle with Democrats assuming the left would just show up without any motivation is a big reason.
They have a point. “She didn’t earn my vote” got us Trump. Like I think it’s good to push against the party for better policy but when the alternative is Trump, it’s too much.
