The title screen for the G-Mode Archives Switch re-release of Aegis: The First Mission, a Japan-only polygonal action game starring Persona 3's Aigis, released on feature phones. It features a transparent blue silhouette of Aigis, armed and ready against the backdrop of the Kirijo Research Institute on Yakushima Island. Aigis talking to Eiichiro Takeba (Yukari's scientist father) inside the laboratory, saying, "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance" in her trademark, stilted military cadence in Japanese. The area is rendered in a simplified polygonal view with only the bottom of the walls shown as room boundaries a la The Sims and furniture shown as sky blue 2D silhouettes. A handful of other lab workers are also shown standing in other rooms. The NPCs and Aigis are all simple, low-fi polygonal models. Aigis engaging a handful of Shadows during a training exercise set in a nearby forest. Aigis engaging a bird Shadow boss, which is firing waves of bullets in a manner akin to shooters. The camera perspective is fixed in place behind Aigis in a view extremely reminiscent of contemporary Ys games such as Ys VI and Oath in Felghana.

Asheron's Call (1999-2017) had loads and loads of emote animations, many of which the in-game help did not tell you about at all. One of the "secret" ones, "@atoyot", plays the normal jump-cheer emote but freezes it at the top of the jump (until you press a move key) - just like the Toyota ads!

In practice, this move is very hard to synchronize between players, so they're actually entering "@atoyot" to do a version that freezes in mid-air. The chat box printout for it reads, "[name] experiences quite the feeling!" Screenshot from a 1980s Toyota TV ad where several people are jump-cheering for joy in front of various Toyota automobiles, in a similar fashion to the screenshot. Not visible is their commercial slogan/jingle, "Oh, what a feeling!"

I've felt this way for awhile about GAS, like its only way forward is to sustain itself on younger players who haven't been burnt 5 or 6 times already and I'm pretty sure they don't have any money so...

I feel like the fact that these companies seemingly plan for either instant success with infinite money or immediately fold, apart from all the bigger things wrong with that model, also contributes to why people are really hesitant to invest time and especially money in a new GAS game.
