Beyond the Wall of Stars (1992) is one of those weird multimedia experiences tailored-made for me. Ultralow-budget sci-fi interactive multiple-choice book with bonkers plot, water pistols, digitized actors and all that good stuff.
It was supposed to be a trilogy but alas, that never happened.

Speaking of preservation, this will probably need to be done unofficially, but any tech wizards that want to try and preserve Humanity (the Lemmings-like puzzler by the Tetris Effect studio) and its years of user levels and community jams... You've until March 2026

Maybe find a way to save locally?
HUMANITY - [News] Update on HUMANITY User-Generated Content - Steam News
The User Stages mode in HUMANITY will end service at the end of March 2026. After this time, users on any platform will no longer be able to successfully upload stages they've created or play stages c...

This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

2025 was brutal for games media, but I'm seeing some glimmers of hope as worker-owned sites like @aftermath.site, @rascal.news, and @giantbomb.bsky.social have carved out vital spaces in the games community.

Earlier this year, I made a huge Indie Games Media starter pack for y'all. Let's celebrate.

"video games are art" people when I talk about the way To a T lets you see other npcs grouse about their daily life alongside Teen to demonstrate that Teen is really just like everyone else even when they're having a hard day and not French Bullshit where adults argue about fear of death or w/ever.

As it turns out this song is actually taken from JAZZ.mid composed by Carl Franklin. Really not surprised that it's yet another song not actually composed by the credited composers lmao

One thing about Minecraft is because I have only orbited it remotely in the last decade it's always a shock when it has lighting and *water*
We ended up accidentally watching this whole video yesterday, and against all odds, it ended up being one of the greatest pieces of cinema I've ever experienced:

I watched Take Me Out To Snowland (私をスキーに連れてって), a movie I've had on my mind for over a decade since I watched its opening sequence. I'm pleased to say that it's just as confidently stylish and beautiful as its opening all the way through. An incredible winter movie.

Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

i am a strong believer in the permaban. many are uncomfortable with anything permanent, but it is an opportunity for growth and the realisation that nothing is permanent; like your tattoos, your ban from a video game lasts only until you die, maybe a little longer
I kinda miss multiplayer games that were aggressive with banning bad actors for a few hours or days. Time outs do work on adults and I think people need more of them
