A jawfish, cautiously peering out of its burrow in Anilao. This is far and away the most common way to see them; they tend to be rather shy. I think this one is a yellowbarred jawfish (Opistognathus randalli).

Giant Australian cuttlefish are now hatching in South Australia’s Upper Spencer Gulf Marine Park. To mitigate the risk from the harmful algal bloom, the State and Federal governments installed a bubble curtain to protect more than 50,000 eggs.

Articles like vvv really get me bc they suggest that the author has engaged uncritically on all of higher ed. Connections have always been a differentiator of education. We do not study a dictionary. If your class is ‘knowledge transfer only’ it was always a bad class. www.forbes.com/sites/shanno...

It's #NautilusNight!⁣ The common name "paper nautilus" for the genus Argonauta comes from the Greek ναυτίλος nautílos, meaning "sailor". People once believed these octopuses used two of their arms as sails, as seen in this #SciArt from "Zoography" (1807) www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/54312693 🧪
