I will say that none of its faults are any more intractable than skyrim's at launch, for example.
I suspect a lot of the hate is because it borrows spaceship things from NMS and Mass Effect but makes them worse somehow.

Starfield is *fine*, I'm enjoying the slow burn. But holy moses is it bonkers to ship a AAA title w/o a gamma or hdr black point slider. The reshade settings I'm using make a wild amount of difference
