They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

I suppose it sorta makes sense that early humans traded off fur coats and physical strength for big brains that allowed us to create clothes and tools and now we’re apparently trading off those big brains for the ability to use hallucinatory auto-complete to write reports for us.

This is a thing I don’t think the AI adopters don’t understand: you’re not getting a *good* story when you use it. You’re getting a story that a good editor, even if they approved of AI, would almost certainly reject.
Since the AI posts are still rolling, here are some hopefully final clarifications.
1- Uncanny hasn't rejected a story because we suspected AI use. These stories were rejected for the usual reasons we would pass on a story.

A useful thing to remember about writing advice is that whenever I, a professional author, see people posting writing absolutes (like "you must do this" or "never do this") - I disagree with them at least half the time.
Use the advice that resonates for YOU. Ignore the rest!
