Nerdy UK tax question - anyone in my circle have an idea of how much Shadow ACT there still is hanging around/the extent to which it's an issue for those affected?

Really not sure why we need glitchy software controlling the direction the car goes in when for well over 100 years a simple metal rod connecting the steering wheel to the front wheels has done the job perfectly well? (See also brakes & throttle/accelerator)

X is a *much* smaller social network than any of its major rivals.

That’s why Elon shifted the app into the news category on the app stores btw, rather than social. It’s so he could be number one in a small category instead of way down the list in a bigger one.
For every minute Britons spend on Twitter, they spend:

35 minutes on YouTube
35 minutes on Facebook/Messenger
11 minutes on Instagram
7 minutes on TikTok
5 minutes on Snapchat.

If the UK government wants to scale down on Twitter than it's really not a problem for directly reaching people.

Can any Mac-heads help with a strange problem; Logic Pro on my Macbook Air has started repeatedly saving these two files (both, weirdly, old Smith and Sniff-related tracks) but they're not really the files since they seem to be zero bytes. What is going on?

Just home from an evening at the Barbican watching the talent of @nyogb.bsky.social
Enthralling as ever, right down to the (?traditional?) a capella encore; won't spoil it for anyone heading to Warwick/Nottingham, but it's an "as you* never heard it before"...)

Hi there Blue Sky folks! I'm new here, Here's some Bach Cello Suits in the west of Ireland winter sun. Is what you're into? Would you like to hear more? I'm finding it too upsetting to open up Twitter these days...

I do love iPlayer subtitles (when they’re working properly)

“Ceiling creaks ominously” and “(wow)”

(V small prize if you can guess what I’m watching)

Please do not use AI for legal advice, or near legal documents, or for anything even adjacently legal. It's only when it's an area of law you actually have expertise in that you can see just how much it gets wrong. Otherwise it might look dangerously plausible. Just trust me. Don't.
I don't know how many times it needs to be said that you absolutely should not let fucking "AI" anywhere near your legal contracts, either in creating them or evaluating them, but apparently it needs to be said at least one more time, so allow me to say it again, here, right now

It is day four of the Between Times (I think). The kitchen bin is full of cheese wrappers and yet the fridge is still full of cheese. I can load and unload the dishwasher in my sleep and the wheelie bins have all just been left at the end of the drive awaiting The Return Of The Binmen.

Brilliant evening at the pantomime - Brian Conley at Milton Keynes as it happens, but if you can go to one anywhere then do. From the very first scene all I could think was how, just like live music, it’s something that you simply can’t replicate on a screen or through headphones.

A new year’s wish that we all start framing paying taxes as positive and patriotic contribution to a better world for all. Thank you Anthony Joshua! I’ve just paid mine too. They were quite a lot less than yours, but for some reason most historians don’t earn £68.5m.
He isn't "losing" this money. This is called "paying tax like a responsible citizen and not hiding your money offshore" and we need to start recognising and applauding it.
