Same mostly harmless tax nerd, cynic & petrolhead; same character-lite handle. Occasional music & cat content.
and yes, without knowing the story it did look ike it was saying the opposite of what it actually does.

Good design is probably less than half the battle; effective execution through good engineering will always win out.
(See also Rocket Science, high school level equations, vs Rocket Engineering, which we're frequently and messily reminded is Very Hard To Do)

I ran across it in an anthology somewhere - probably "Expedition to Earth", but have whiled away many happy hours in Hugos collections from the same era.

I dunno... it's not clear from the wiki post, but the issue which sank the "superior" fleet was development of a hyperdrive, enabling them to blink in & out of the battle venue - except that the transition warped components, so none of their spare parts fitted as every one had to be hand finished...

Possibly the same train of thought which prompted the sci-fi short "Superiority" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superio...

Could be the laptop? (Spent ages trying to work out why recordings done via OH's laptop were so crackly when monitoring on wired headphones during performance; transferred them to desktop PC with decent soundcard etc and all fine through the same headphones)

One of my Dad's colleagues had three. (Not all at the same time though; he kept writing them off - including an occasion when he woke in a field and couldn't move his head as one timber of the five bar gate was in front of his head and another behind it...)

Now wondering why the ai wouldn’t dress him in clothes.
You are welcome to that mental image.

Wondering how the Guinness version would work.

I for one will now rejoice in Three Dog Night earworm for the next few hours. (Never yet been to carol service where they do that one myself, though I understand it has happened…)

Y’know, I spent far too long trying to remember if the commander in Fantastic Voyage was called Renton. After a brief diversion into vampires I… chose something else.

Which one? I can see two sets of eyes...

You really shouldn't send me links to that site when I'm alone in the house with a credit card... been on LEDs for position markers & indicators for some years on safety grounds as much as anything. Making sure the earthing was up to the job was the main issue (and changing the flasher unit).

So used to getting feedback from all around these days I forgot about the terminology, and was briefly surprised that you'd got 360 people doing reviews...

All fun and games until you need to sign in on a phone...
I wonder if it's actually driven by increasing prevalence of different character sets online - reviewing some global survey results, a lot of respondents answered the English version but put whitespace comments in local languages.

Nope - actually a UK Royal Charter company. (We are global, but I'm inclined to think this one is down to the software provider being American... although I wonder if it's also driven by the increase in users on different alphabets/character sets causing issues?)
