Today I confronted “border czar” Tom Homan who came to Albany to do Trump’s bidding — push for mass deportations, carry out the assault on working class New Yorkers, and justify the unjustifiable detention of legal permanent resident and father-to-be, Mahmoud Khalil.

this strikes me less as an honest diagnosis and more as self-exonerating excuse for not doing maximum delay and obstruction in the senate right now.
New: Democrats Need Judges to Rein In Trump. There’s No Plan B.

As one Senator put it: “Most of this stuff is going to cause a ton of damage, but will eventually be found to be illegal.”

Democrats Need Judges to Rein In Trump. There’s No Plan B.
A barrage of judges have recently ruled against Trump. Many Democrats see that as their only hope as Congress is unlikely to block him

truly incredible to (1) not be doing everything you can to delay and obstruct, (2) receive historically high call volume demanding you max out delay and obstruction, and (3) complain that the callers are focusing on the “wrong” people
inadvertently vital reporting here from axios showcasing dem staffers whining about a foundational tenet of representational democracy: telling your representative how you want them to represent you.

a point i made a number of times in the lead up to roe v wade being overturned is that conservatives had spent 50 years building up this institutional power and so there was no way they decline to use it once they had it. i think a useful perspective for everything happening right now

Incredible to live in a country with people who don't want a guy to coach college football because he fucked up some dogs AND want a rapist who tried to overthrow the government to be commander in chief. Good stuff.

For everyone just tuning in: The most Jersey political scandal of all time has dropped — www.inquirer.com/news/nation-...
This New Jersey congressman faked his Spotify Wrapped results to look like more of a Springsteen fan
U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey admitted that he manipulated his Spotify Wrapped results to be Bruce Springsteen-forward. Was it an attempt at pandering for the governor candidate?

the way we're socialized to see violence exclusively as interpersonal—& not see state violence (policies that create poverty/kill), structural violence, institutional violence—is very deliberate. same with panics about "crime"/shoplifting vs how much corporations steal from every single one of us
health insurance executives kill people every day by denying them coverage btw

I think it was on twitter (though maybe here?) where I once noted that despite being a life long dem who had never voted for any other party, have given money to a variety of candidates, volunteered, been on staff, etc, I was wishing for dem leadership to actually die of natural causes lol
The party is genuinely adrift, and a large part of that rudderlessness is the fact that the Schumer/Pelosi faction simply will not step aside, despite a spectacular string of failures. We simply cannot be rid of them, even when they clearly are not up to the task at hand

This is not exactly a vote of confidence in the national telecom infrastructure by the government
In a call today about the ongoing difficulties remediating kicking China's hackers out of US telecoms, FBI and CISA suggested you call and text with encryption. (Really)
U.S. officials urge Americans to use encrypted apps amid cyberattack
Officials from the FBI and CISA said it was impossible to predict when the telecommunications companies would be fully safe from interlopers.
