hi. this is me. i make things. i run my mouth. sometimes i photograph trees or birds or cats or old buildings.

come tell me my shinies are pretty, or yap about your cool indie punk band or weird alt pop obsession. or don’t, i’m not your mum.
i dunno, maybe i'll regret posting this one? but also nothing ventured nothing gained i guess.

Schools needing tablets and Chromebooks? LOL, good luck. Two separate vendors already saying supply will be hard to come by and between tariffs and chip shortages, pricey at that. Just in time for NYS to go all in on computer based testing. 🤦🏼‍♂️
“.. ‘many system vendors will go bankrupt or exit product lines due to a lack of memory. Mobile phone production will be reduced by 200-250 million units, and PC and TV production will be significantly reduced.’ Yikes.”

A lot of older Japanese games—including, yes, dating sims—have similar reputations and 9 times out of 10, it's because you're attempting to play something without a manual that was never intended to be experienced that way. For games with no online guides, the manual may well be your only lifeline.

One of the main reasons Tokimeki Memorial can feel obtuse to people playing it now in 2026 when it didn't to Japanese players in 1994 is you're not playing with the manual and info cards, which explicitly spell out the game's entire calendar and all major events so you can plan runs in advance.
I'm older than you so I can confirm that they came with a little book that had the tutorial in it and you read it on the way home

Read that again. Cosign.

genAI is a eugenicist project.
And cue the people saying "Wah, you can't talk about 'AI' on here without being called a racist".

Guess what -- "AI" is a eugenicist project. If you don't account for that in how you engage you are at best "neutral" in favor of the opporessors.

We are about to run face-first into a combo of:

- Covid development delays (2020-2022)
- End of Zero-Interest Rate Policy (2022)
- Overinvestment in games-as-a-service (2021-2025)
- AI-based hardware shortages (2025+)

AAA games take 4-7 years to develop and bring to market. It is going to be BAD.

it's morgin time

in a rational universe, companies with literally endless resources would not ship slop.
This nonsense slop diagram in Microsoft's GitHub training guide is embarrassing. Maybe review things before unquestioningly publishing generated garbage? I guess that's too much to ask of one of the largest and richest companies in the world.

On the night of the 2021 Australian Census, 1,043,776 private dwellings were unoccupied.

On the same night, there were ~122,000 homeless people in Australia.
For almost any given country, look at the number of empty houses, buildings, warehouses, etc and the number of homeless people - and keep in mind both are undercounted - and you get a glance at the social darwinism inherent to capitalist modernity/politics
Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

At PyCon AU, we care deeply about building safe, inclusive, community-first spaces, so we've got a lot in common.

Join us on Saturday to discuss your talk ideas or just hang out!
