We do not need to call it “Donroe Doctrine”

This is a towel from Zaporizhzhia of the type used in the MFA kitchens that feed the front lines. It may look like an ordinary kitchen towel, but this is a war towel, a small but important piece of the fight for liberation.

Kidnapping a foreign leader invites other countries to do the same. The Trump administration just handed China and Russia permission on a silver platter, risking global stability and putting American lives in jeopardy.

Considering recent events in Iran & Russia, I want to remind people about this story:

The water level in Caspian Sea has been dropping. This dredging would facilitate trade with Iran. But Russia is low on funds.

What Happens Next in Venezuela—and the Rest of Latin America?
Donald Trump says that Venezuela's governance will remain in the hands of senior US officials until a "proper and judicious transition" can take place. The rest of the region is on notice.

For nonlawyers, it’s worth noting that statements like this have—as a formal matter—important legal effects as a matter of international law. If such statements are *not* made, and in volume, future arguments that Trump’s invasion sets a legal precedent will stand on much firmer legal ground.
Norway’s Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide: "International law is universal and binding for all states. The American intervention in Venezuela is not in accordance with international law."

I like the mosaic of Democratic statements. They are covering so much ground, showing the fullness of how bad Trump's actions in and plans for Venezuela are. It is compellingly wrong for so many reasons.

And remember, Capone went down on taxes. Sometimes it's procedures or details that win.

It is outrageous for a President who is tanking our economy here at home to suggest that the American taxpayer spend a fortune to “run” another country while doing nothing to make life better in America. I opposed the war in Iraq from the outset—and the parallels here are glaring.

Moulton: "When we had briefings on Venezuela, we asked, 'Are you going to invade the country?' We were told no. 'Do you plan to put troops on the ground?' We were told no. 'Do you intend regime change in VZ?' We were told no. So in a sense, we have been briefed, we've just been completely lied to"

Trump openly frames military force as a commercial acquisition tool. You can’t credibly argue limited self defense, LE action, narrow authorization, or emergency necessity while simultaneously describing infrastructure takeover, profit generation, corporate involvement, and follow-on strikes.
Trump: "We're going to have our very large United States oil companies go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure and start making money for the country. And we are ready to stage a second and much larger attack if we need to do so."

International law is not about rewarding virtue or punishing vice.
It exists to restrain power and protect the weak from the strong.
When force replaces rules, sovereignty and legitimacy erode.

Clinton appointee Judge Alvin Hellerstein has Maduro’s case. Last spring, he barred the Trump admin from removing Venezuelans from the US under the Alien Enemies Act, which he said had been applied unlawfully

“These people are being thrown out of the country because of tattoos”
Happening now: From the bench, Judge Alvin Hellerstein indicates he’ll extend a TRO barring removals of Venezuelans detained in SDNY under the Alien Enemies Act. Detailing horrific conditions at CECOT, he partly cited the likelihood of irreparable harm.
