HUGE!!! Senator @scottwiener.bsky.social's SB 79, which the Bay Area Council is cosponsoring, passes the Senate!!! SB 79 legalizes apartments in single family areas near trains. This was a test for the Senate - the Assembly is passing housing bills, so this has a GREAT shot of becoming law!

This is very sad. But also underlines, again, the party’s gerontocracy problem. Pelosi et al pushed for him to head oversight instead of AOC who knows how to operate in the modern media landscape to get and use attention. Generational change/diversification shouldn’t just happen through tragedy.

the flipside of this is that grant was an actual military genius!
I'd add that the portrayal of Lee as a military genius is also completely dishonest. Lee was directly responsible for the strategic decision that lost the war for the Confederacy (1863 invasion of the north) and made that decision for dumb and foolish reasons.
Always good on Appomattox day to remember that Robert E. Lee was a vile human being whose historical portayal as a reluctant defender of slavery is based on complete fabrication. He was a committed white supremacist who believed slavery reflected a natural order and commanded his army as such.

Schumer's logic here also dictates getting rolled on the debt ceiling and on next year's budget. I think he's got to go
