I think there’s a strong chance that people even slightly out of the loop about AI are hearing all the hype and seeing all the forced integration and thinking “well it MUST be worthwhile because, after all, all the important people are pushing it” and are genuinely shocked by the inevitable backlash
It's genuinely confusing why, over and over again, organizations that cater to, or are dependent upon, artists writers and creators decide to absolutely fucking enrage their constituency with "AI," only to be required to backtrack after considerable loss of goodwill
San Diego Comic-Con will no longer allow AI 'art' to be displayed at their event

"Material created by AI either partially or wholly, is not allowed in the art show"

This follows backlash from artists after SDCC initially indicated AI-generated work would be permitted

To be fair, I did use ChatGPT once. There was a word related to education that was on the tip of my tongue and driving me crazy so I thought I’d ask this fancy new magic machine to give me some words about learning that end in “-ion.” It gave me “school,” “testing,” and “onion” (because learning…

A nation whose economic stability is dependent on coercing women into bearing children is a nation that doesn’t deserve to survive.

This isn’t a difficult question.

It’s embarrassing all around that some seem to think it is.
Because whether or not you like it, the underlying question here is “if the nation’s economic stability requires coercing women into bearing children, do you support coercing women into bearing children?”

Can you be certain that your “ally” husband or boyfriend isn’t like THEN LET IT COLLAPSE?

UPDATE: Jack Daniel’s parent co. Brown-Forman tells me it has nothing to do with CBS’ “Whiskey Friday” concept. “Jack Daniel’s is not involved in any such segment, nor do we have any awareness of the segment and any potential partnerships or sponsorships.”
Update — Here is what the new apparent CBS News segment "Whiskey Fridays with Tony Dokoupil" may look like:

As Senior VP of Outreach for The Left, I accept full responsibility for this messaging oversight. Please allow me to share, albeit belatedly, our organization’s proffered solutions:

1. Tax the fuck out of billionaires, and
2. Use that money to pay for no-cost prenatal care, postpartum care,
As birth rates tumble, some progressives say the Left needs to offer solutions
Many countries around the world including the US face aging and shrinking populations. Conservative groups have taken the lead talking about the issue. Some liberal thinkers say it's time to talk abo...

when you are asked to imagine a world without ICE, you're basically being asked to remember where you were when Lilo & Stitch came out

Thank you for asking! Been complaining about this for a while, mostly into the void. My porn from 10+ years ago was used to create a deepfake involving someone else’s face, and I’ve never seen anyone ask whether that might be traumatic for the person whose body was used without consent too. IT IS!

At my first job, if you needed to send a message to 15 people, you printed it out 15 times and dropped a printout on each one’s desk, in the bin designated for that purpose.

And if you needed to share a file you needed to save it to a floppy or optical disk and take it to the recipient.
Without revealing your actual age, what's something you remember that if you told a younger person they wouldn't understand?

This man could have been Vice President right now, but Democratic leaders and their consultants decided that a message of “can you believe these weirdos?” was simply too uncivil for this moment.
I invite all Americans to join Minnesota in a day of unity tomorrow.

The reckoning is upon us: house republicans are having to abandon Trump because they have to get reelected.
Breaking on MS NOW: The House just PASSED Democrats' discharge petition for a three year extension on enhanced Obamacare subsidies, 230-196.

17 Republicans voted with Democrats.
