Like that one Council who had to tell their residents to stop drinking the water because of nitrates, their solution is to abandon that river as a source for water for humans and get it from a different river. Aaaaagh, that doesn't solve anything it just starts the clock on the new water source.

In a democracy drop kicks have a right to vote 🤷🏽‍♀️
Let me be clear-->No one, absolutely no one, is a "drop kick." That kind of dehumanising attitude and language by some MPs indicating that certain people are lesser and their rights can be moved to the side is precisely what's wrong with the Coalition. www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360...
Live: Deputy PM says electoral law change will only impact ‘drop kicks’
Ministers have just answered questions about the just-announced electoral law change that will stop people from being able to enrol to vote on election day.

Some years back when we had crappy year (2020) after crappy year (2019) I decided I wasn't going to look forward to the next year I was going to look forward to 2026 - on the basis that it was when CRL and Central Interceptor would be finished. Feeling vindicated right now w this slide:

& you know the really fucking lazy arsed stupid thing about this the whole story is based entirely around the reckons of Seymour.

There are conference planners up & down the county, give ONE of them a call & get a back story, some context - we all know Spanky's words are 100% bullshit.
As a doctor who attends these sorts of things, I can tell you 2 things with certainty:

1) these are on a rotating schedule planned years in advance
2) no one considers advertising rules when planning these (e.g. Europe has conferences and strict rules)

It's embarrassing that RNZ published this.
Lifting advertising restrictions will enable medical conferences in NZ - David Seymour
The Associate Health Minister says medical conferences can happen in New Zealand now, because the government is lifting advertising restrictions on medicines.

“Ideological Sludge”: How New Zealand Is Quiet Quitting Climate Action
New Zealand once stood out as a world leader on climate change. In June it became the first country in the world to abandon a commitment to phase out oil, gas and coal.

A few weeks back, New Zealand announced it was giving up its commitment to a managed phaseout of oil, gas and coal.

I took a look at how the conservative government there wants to reboot gas exploration and is all in on planting trees as a climate solution over at @drilledmedia.bsky.social

Cassandra is 100% correct but I must add: it's also typical rightwing coward shit. Men like Seymour and Peters and Jones are very happy to make direct, inflammatory attacks against their opponents then run away crying "I misspoke" "it was the heat of the moment" "it was just a joke" when called out
From post Cab Q&A: When Seymour targets individual academics he says he's being "playful", that there's no breach of the Cabinet Manual. He sneers about @misswhanau.bsky.social's concerns.

A totally predictable response. But this is not just being playful. It's about silencing dissent.

David Seymour is a anthromophised cry for help, shuffling through existence in a limp-faced skin sack, trying to make friends and influence people by being the most odious suck up cliché everyone mocks behind his back.

He could've made a choice to be a decent person. He chose to be cruel.

Given the decline in standards we can absolutely call this The Motherfucker Of All Budgets.
The Mothers of us all budget
So here we have it, the Sherriff of Nottingham Budget, literally robbing Paula to pay Paul

They've used the Pay Equity Fund to balance this budget and no one should accept that, no one should forget that!

The extra funding that is happening is at the expense of women

They've always been Nazis, it's just the social framework wasn't there to be public about it. Now they're feeling emboldened by things like the world's richest man giving them a whole Nazi site.

This is why you absolutely do NOT have to find 'common ground' with this stuff. You squash it.
Not going to link to the article because Fuck That, but Matthew Hooton comparing TPM to Sinn Fein is utterly disingenuous and obnoxious, racist, shite. I'd suggest it's edging on defamation.

What the fuck is going on with the White Right at the moment? Have they always dreamed of being Nazis?

Same....Have yet to go further but can feel the move to rage.
I have finally been pushed to the point of wishing physical harm and terminal illnesses on every member of this Government coalition.
Provoked beyond the limits of my humanity, they've broken my empathy.
That's NEVER happened before.

I am *begging* people to look up the actual history of the Luddite movement with it being bandied about everywhere.

They weren't anti-tech, they were anti-exploitation, anti-Industrialist, pro-worker safety textile worker radicals who disabled factory machines that were maiming and killing workers.

I hate that journos keep using the phrase 'War on woke.' It gives the whole thing cover.

It's a war on science, a war on human rights, a war on evidence and decency. It's a war on democracy and a habitable planet. Call it those things, call it what it is. #nzpol

He's talking absolute bollocks. We've got low debt to gdp: half the EU average, a third of the US', and less than Oz. And if that was a problem, we could simply raise taxes as we have a tax to gdp ratio in the bottom half of OECD countries.
Once again he is blatantly lying to us.
