It's one thing to not want to discuss cases in public, but if the affected user is not being informed it's an unfair system open to abuse. Without transparency you will lose the trust of your users. Please do not go down the road of secret decisions with no recourse from your users.
Our policy has been not to comment on individual accounts. You end up having to litigate every case in public, and we don’t have the capacity for infinite debates in public.

Then there’s also the consequences such as the increased litigation and bad actors gaming your systems.

Not only are we not doing enough to reduce emissions, we haven't even managed to stabilise them.
About *a third* of global fossil fuel CO2 emissions emitted during the Industrial age have occurred in roughly the last 17 years. The previous third was emitted over a period of roughly 26 years. The first third was emitted over a period of about 131 years.

And now we know what is behind the government's surge in defence funding.
Exclusive: The Government has avoided questions about whether it’s joining preparations for a US confrontation with China. Until now, the public has had no insight.

And because our society has chosen an economic model that requires some people to be unemployed, our society has a moral responsibility to support those people.
It's 2025 and our economic model is still reliant on maintaining a decent bufferstock of unemployed people. This model was *designed* to ensure that employers have the upper hand (and labour could be uberised). Govt distract us from this reality by bashing beneficiaries and abdicating responsibility

And the government is going to force rich parents to support their 18-19 year olds rather than just hanging them out to dry, right? Right?

It is offensive for the person supposedly in charge of the government and its economic levers to suggest that youths, and their playstationing ways, are responsible for the most rapid surge in unemployment since the Great Financial Crash

I will reiterate as someone with field and specific knowledge of New Zealand’s oil and gas sector, there is no giant untapped field out there. Even if Labour agrees to this, not a single drop of oil or gas will be produced in the next decade because it’s not there. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon asks Labour leader Chris Hipkins to support offshore gas exploration
The Prime Minister wants a bipartisan approach to offshore exploration for natural gas.

Obviously Trump thinks "rare earth" means "rare earth magnet". He's had people talking to him about China's dominance of rare earth mineral supply and thought it was all about making rare earth magnets.
Trump: "China intelligently went in and they sort of took a monopoly of the world's magnets. Nobody needed magnets until they convinced everybody 20 years ago, 'let's all do magnets.' There were many other ways that the world could have gone ... we're heavily into the world of magnets now."

Labour should be loudly promising they're reinstate the ban on day one with no compensation for companies that try to take advantage of this government's climate vandalism.

If you're an #InternetNZ member planning to participate in the upcoming AGM, you, like me, might have been finding it difficult to get your head around the changes to the Constitution that would be effectuated by the MANY proposed motions.

I've created a tracked-changes style guide:

I struggle with this too. Even the Epstein stuff isn't news. I'm glad it seems to be getting some traction at last, but mystified as to why so many people have turned a blind eye until now.
MAGA gets their panties in a twist about Epstein and Trump and the possibilities Trump was on "the plane".....and yet 27 women come forward and say Trump assaulted them,
and
they
ignore
it.

Seymour rejected the advice of his own officials, the views of the vast majority of expert submitters, the view of civil society orgs. He will not or cannot offer a justification for this, and instead resorts to insulting the competence or motivations of people who disagree with him.

This constant abuse of urgency has to end. The rules need to be changed.
Out from behind the paywall: David Seymour's high-profile Regulatory Standards Bill is expected to pass under urgency this week.

We endured six months of submissions and process for the Treaty Principles Bill, a bill cabinet knew would never pass.

Yet the Govt gives just 12 hours for radical changes to pay equity laws that directly impact hundreds of thousands of workers, mostly women, & their families.

The govt of "fix the cost of living crisis" and "we need to protect women" is cutting the pay of thousands of women. All to preserve tax cuts for landlords. Vicious, sadistic class-warfare.
This government has cut the minimum wage in real terms - twice. We are cutting living wage protections. Cutting sick leave. Child poverty is rising. Is this seriously the only plan for the economy? How many people need to be impoverished for this government to feel wealthy?
