Wait, so the most blocked accounts on bluesky have only been blocked by ~0.2% of users?

That is really not as high as I would have expected

NYC used to consistently build 5-10 new subway stations every single year.

Since 1990 we have built 4. Not 4 per year. 4 total over 34 years.

If Democrats are going to prove we can govern, we need to fix this asap.

Did a podcast with my fellow bankers debating:

Is the alcohol downturn temporary or structural?

It was a draft - and I had first pick for the 'temporary' side - go find out what I choose, and see if I can make a good case!

S-i-L works at an Alc distribution company (in HQ, not in the field) and as part of an offsite, they are learning how to clean draft lines.

Love it, need that dedication across the distribution tier!

democrats and @podsaveamerica.bsky.social bros who think you only support things when the polls say you should support them would have ended up on the side opposed to civil rights, and that is not acceptable.

ABInbev chief saying that beer won't be as impacted by weight loss drugs bc it isn't as sweet.

Maybe!

But I can say I get a LOT of questions about Ozempic/GLP-1s, and no one knows what they will do, but it is a legit industry concern

(some folks I talk to in Europe still sleeping on this)

New favourite joke:

A priest, a pastor, and a rabbit walk into a blood donation centre.

The nurse asks the rabbit, "What blood group are you?"

"Well," says the rabbit, "I'm probably a type O."

Something about reading this while in my NYC apartment...

...that was built in the 1920's

Those are crazy stats
New York City built more housing in the 1920s than it has built in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s COMBINED.

Nobody alive knows what an actual urban housing boom looks like.

learning that craft beer capacity utilization in the US is hovering just above 50% is equally not that shocking and totally wild

So rough, and I think that capacity will continue to loom over the industry for a looong time

And filling tanks with outside non-beer products is easier said than done

Reading about Danone dropping the Nutri-score rating from its drinks brands today - and remembered the dreaded 'Black F' that was being proposed for all alcohol brands

and then I remembered the first time seeing a nutri-score on a brand in the US.

My guesses on how big brewers see NoLo products:

1. Useful as a shield against further alcohol regulation
2. Portfolio diversification- hedging bets against young folks not consuming alcohol
3a. Way to advetise brands without advertising alcohol
3b. Growth engine in and of itself
semi-relatedly i also think the consideration must be broader than individual impact of NoLo product lines upon drinkers' habits/health. for example: the ad opportunities, the consolidation of market power, the additional opportunities for regulatory capture, etc.
