I rarely do births for #OnThisDay, but this one is special:
Nov 13, 1833: "Father of Minneapolis Parks" Charles M. Loring is born. In the 1880s he begins acquiring the city's lakes and shorelines, and along with Horace Cleveland creates the finest public urban park system in the United States.

I don't think people realize how much a trillion dollars is.

Let's say you get paid a million dollars per day. That's a lot, right?

If you spend none of it and pay no taxes, you'll have a trillion dollars in approximately two thousand seven hundred (2700) YEARS.

No one should have that much.

It shouldn’t be forgotten that a big piece of Mamdani’s campaign was simply “cities are cool and lots of people enjoy living in them” which in and of itself dismantles alot of rightwing talking points

Could not be more *proud* of my Council Member and excited for four more years! She’s shown nothing but hard work and grace all year, it’s really been amazing to see.

We’ll keep on working on 12-2 and make the margin even bigger next time around!
We won every precinct with a total of 62.05% of the vote!

Thank you Ward 12, I look forward to representing and serving you for the next 4 years.

A progressive vision for supporting everyday people and working families is what I will work to deliver with you. 🤍

There's a lot of counting to be done. But one thing is very clear, Minneapolis wants a Park Board that takes climate SERIOUSLY! That refuses to cut youth programming! And stands by our labor allies!!!

This appointment is such good news for the twin cities and @metcouncilmn.bsky.social !

Whether you’re going to work, the grocery, or a friend’s house, Twin Cities residents need transportation options that are safe & work for their wallet, ability, and age. Robin gets that and knows how to deliver.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz announced Tuesday that he's appointing Robin Hutcheson, a former U.S. Department of Transportation official, to chair the Metropolitan Council, starting in December. The Met Council has faced scrutiny in recent years over spending on public transit projects.

But voting for her opponent, especially after all she’s said and done… damn y’all.

Barf. Here's the "Team Mpls" plan to “address climate change.” No mention of getting off fossil fuels. Nothing on electrification. Nothing on renewable energy, transit or building housing near transit. Just trees and carbon capture(?). This fluff could have been written by the Koch Bros (1/2)

@mndot.mn.gov estimates every St Paul-Chicago trip by train, instead of car, saves $296. $88 comes in social benefits-safety, emissions and crash reduction. The rest goes to the rider, due to reduced cost of operating a personal vehicle. Increased rail service is a no-brainer! @hsrail.bsky.social

Happy Halloween from Neighbors for More Neighbors!

If you are trick-or-treating tonight, think about how much better it would be if there were more homes!

Because more homes = more neighbors! More neighbors = more candy! More candy = higher likelihood of getting a full-sized candy bar!

"It’s time for Minnesota governments to reopen the sidewalks and figure out how to house folks somewhere that doesn’t result in the erosion of public space."
