Love how the presumption here is that the President doesn't know what he's sharing and that's fine and normal.

Sorry, no, if the President doesn't know what he's sending out then that is indisputable proof of gross incompetence, cognitive unfitness, or both.
The New York Times has finally covered the Trump video of Obama as an ape — and they are still providing cover for him. Fuck the Times.

The media is brazenly, openly republican and it sucks that democrats don’t know how to communicate this
CNBC's Rebecca Quick and Joe Kernen brought Chris Coons on this morning so they could team up to berate him about how terrible they think the an idea shutting down the government again is, as though Democrats would be entirely to blame and ICE is just normal law enforcement

Woke is back, and this time it's pissed
I think "woke" was at least partly identified with "irritating" and the way we're rectifying that in Woke 2 is by being scary instead

This is it.

And the founders also never really envisioned a system like industrial and post-industrial capitalism that would be *fundamentally at odds* with their vision of a democratic republic.

Which is why capitalism must be dismantled.
Our founders, though deeply flawed, understood that democracy requires an informed citizenry and a government accountable to it people. That’s why the press is the only profession protected by the Constitution. It’s also why autocrats and oligarchs seek to control and destroy it.

Here Gavin Newsom is, inviting straight up fascists on his show and agreeing with their bigoted statements, to convince right-leaning "centrists" that he's middle of the road Presidential material. And self-appointed spokesman for the right-leaniing centrists Bret Stephens says sorry still too woke.

hey it's those nice people we interviewed in the diner
Kindergarten teacher called a prank ICE hotline thinking it was real. She called to report her 6 year old student to ICE to try to get them and their family deported.

6 years old.

She does not enjoy hearing her own words and actions played back to her.

It's pretty amazing to me the amount of shit that apparently you can Just Do as an NYC mayor. It makes basically every other American politician look like an incompetent loser.

What do you mean there was just a button that reversed wage theft? Why wasn't and isn't everyone hitting it all the time??

Such a great comment.

I'm tempted to say both they and Trump's MAGA insanity machine going so horribly all-in is the very thing that made the bottom fall out, i.e. reaction to that, but something always happens to burst the bubble, that's just the mechanism by which this one (hopefully) did.
Watching these Grammys, you have to wonder if perhaps the Silicon Valley bros made a classic VC mistake and went all-in on reactionary politics right before the bottom dropped out.
Woke 2.0 back with a vengeance. You love to see it.

One thing the Epstein files make even more clear than it already was is that the world didn't become suddenly corrupt, sexist and abusive when Donald Trump won in a surprise in 2015, even thought it seems that way sometimes.

It was this way going way, way back. and it was all documented.

"Reverse Emails"!

It's been going on for a decade, & every time you point it out the elites at the Paper of Record circle wagons & call you an idiot & tell you that you're being unfair & remind you that don't understand journalism.

More than a year in this has mostly gone as I feared, and in some ways has been worse. But there have been two contrasting surprises:

-- The speed and breadth of institutional capitulation

-- The courage, ferocity, and resolution of regular people

Our strength isn't our institutions. It's us.

“in theater” is a crazy way to describe minneapolis
Q: Can you be specific about how many ICE and CBP agents are currently operating in the state?

HOMAN: 3,000. There's been some rotations. They've been in theater a long time. Day after day, can't eat in restaurants, people spin on you, blowing whistles at you. But my main focus now is draw down

I just backspaced to delete a hyphen three times as it sat there laughing at me because I didn’t realize it was a crumb on my iPad screen.

On the other hand the mini pain au chocolate I just ate that created it was worth it.
