It’s not clear to me what the Senate bill means for CA legal weed products, but I would say that one thing you don’t do when you’re a regime trying to consolidate power is take away things that make the populace calm and sedate.

Weirdly the 2013 version of Carrie was not a third adaptation of the novel, but a second adaptation of the 1976 screenplay.
I’m sorry to have to be this guy again, but: The new film THE RUNNING MAN is not a remake of the 1987 film THE RUNNING MAN. It is a second adaptation of the 1982 novel by Stephen King.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!

I don’t believe Yglesias has the emotional bandwidth to feel the emotion known as “mad”.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Probably bad that people at the BBC are quitting over a documentary making a valid edit.

Why is, we became a net exporter of fossil fuels, which was government policy in order to reduce reasons for fighting in the Mideast.

Bugonia (’25, Lanthimos): Yorgos might be losing his touch, this is as stupid and nihilistic as most of his films, but it feels more wearying than aggravating.

Do people not understand what the word “graze” means
Are we still imagining that last year they were competent enough to pull off an incredible stunt and now nobody will tell him he looks like Al Jolson
The makeup line is insane but we should talk about how the cartilage in his ear magically grew back

Sounds repellent!
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

The Washington Post Has Become Right-Wing Even Faster Than I Thought
It’s not going to happen. It’s happening: The mainstream media is becoming right-wing. What are wealthy liberals going to do about it?

I downloaded Alexandre Desplat’s score to GDT’s Frankenstein and it helped me realize that part of my problem with the film is that I can’t remember a single moment of how the score was used in it, whereas I had the score to Patrick Doyle’s Branagh’s Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein on repeat for years.

I think a lot about the story Carl Reiner told: he’d have been a sewing machine repairman if not for a free WPA drama class. That led to other theater work, to Sid Caesar, to Mel Brooks, and all the rest. All because of one free class paid for by a government that felt the arts were worth teaching.
you ever think about the works progress administration? I sure do. I wish that was a thing now. I would be so glad to contribute my labor to like. A random ass local bridge
