Father, widower, retired rural vicar, NUFC follower, owned by one cat.
Shocked at watching MOTD2. The coverage of the Brentford v Newcastle match was clearly edited, and gave the impression that Brentford won 3-1. Typical BBC bias.

So Andrew is no longer Prince. Good. No perhaps we can move on to talking about his elder brother's friendship with and support for the serial abuser Peter Ball, and his denigration of Ball's victims.

I wonder if this might be a good time to remove unearned titles, privilege and status from all the aristocracy? Just a thought.

If I am reading this right, it's not good. A 2/3rds majority for 'bespoke' services and clergy marriage is basically a 'never'. The can is kicked farther down the road. Crushing cowardice.

Can any #CofEpeeps advise - I am doing a post-retirement clear out of the Vicarage study/office. Is there any reason or requirement to keep ER nomination forms relating to the electoral roll prior to this year's new roll, or should I add them to the shredding pile?

Even after reading the Observer article, I still think The Salt Path is a great book. The allegations against Raynor Winn are serious, but they don't detract from the qualities of the book as much as people are saying. It is a brilliant piece of creative writing and still deserves to be read.

Christianity doesn't get everything right, but Lent makes so much more sense than its secular equivalents like Dry January or Veganuary. Early spring is a far more sensible time to be giving things up than the depths of winter.

The bishop of Iceland has a trans child. She often talks about trans rights, but says that every time she does the internet trolls come out of the woodwork. The worst ones use Christianity as an excuse for their bigotry, but she says embracing trans people is what Jesus would have done.

I am with Catherine Shoard on this one. There were good things about Anora, but Best Picture? Not for me, but congratulations to Sean Baker anyway.

Sean Baker’s film is muddled, hollow at the middle and about the fifth least vital of the best picture lineup

Shocking and disrespectful playground bullying just brought the global order crashing down. America, this weak man is not a colossus, he's just wanting to run a protection racket. It makes America look so bad, grovelling to Putin. #ImWithUkraine

Zelensky is a wartime leader watching his people suffer and die under Russian attacks every day. To be lectured and lied to by Trump and Vance, as they defend the war criminal dictator committing these atrocities, is unimaginable agony. An everlasting shame for America.
Trump has not uttered a critical word about Putin but he and his VP publicly belittled the leader of the nation Putin invaded.
