If Goodwin is considered too much of a racist reactionary to be an activist for the racist, reactionary Reform UK, but not too much of a racist reactionary to be intro'd as anything other than a 'presenter, former professor & author' by BBC QT, then what type of organisation does that make the BBC?
Reform UK accused of embracing racism over its pick for head of student organisation
Matthew Goodwin argued people from minority ethnic backgrounds born and raised in UK were not always British

Holy fucking dogshit. LMAO where's my inhaler? Bring the morphine—ALL OF IT.

This and also I am very troubled by the suggestion that bad people never make good art because it implies a belief in the reverse: the creators of art you *do* love are incapable of ever being in the wrong. 😬
Here's a thing that I despise: When someone is outed as an abuser, TERF, terrible human, and ppl start going "I never liked them anyway" "I never found them funny" "They never wrote good things to begin with" and seriously shut the hell up. All of that is just to position you are superior and (cont)

But we talk a good game don’t we, about how awful this system is and what needs to change. Well, here you go: we acknowledge l MPs and the press actively collaborated on a series of absurd frauds to inflict Boris Johnson and hard Brexit on everyone, or we stop complaining and accept that’s How It Is

From the Neal Lawson NS piece, and we can be much more blunt about this: right from that day, all these clowns realised the Tory government was teetering and might fall at any time, and they would need to give people apparently terrifying reasons to not vote Labour, when it did.

Not quite as snappy as how you’ve put it. But hey, cheap point scoring is still point scoring when the government you campaigned hard for turned out to be a pack of liars who took you for a fool.

I thought out of context quoting was something only Reform/Trump did…

I wish I could be as easily pleased by anything as fans of Starmer on here. Imagine going to bat for someone who promises nothing and delivers less. Love yourself more.

Against my better judgement, I read Dunt’s latest article.

This paragraph gives the whole game away, Dunt’s angry Starmer made him look like a right mug instead of the cleverest most special boy. Turns out the shitposting oiks were correct all along, the emperor was naked all along.

It is deeply insulting to Brianna Ghey's memory to pretend that a campaign backed by the likes of Rosie Duffield is doing anything to help children like her.

We've seen her reaction to a trans person discussing their suicidal ideation.
When Rosie Duffield is in on it I think we can safely say the anti-phone campaign in Brianna's name is actively at odds with tackling transphobia

None of this was ever about Online Safety, not about protecting kids. It was all about control and surveilance.

And if you think that sounds a bit too "tin foil hat conspiracy theory", well, you might want to rethink your perspective.
The British government admits it is now monitoring VPNs use by UK residents. Regulator Ofcom has contracted with an AI-powered surveillance service to detect the number of citizens using VPNs to evade the Online Safety Act.

The UK tech minister has said a VPN ban is on the table.

The reporting is a little sparse here, but it suggests the lecturer was removed because a student complained to one of her US Senators, who then leaned on IU.
Indiana University removed a Lecturer from her "Diversity, Human Rights, and Social Justice" course after a student filed a complaint about a graphic the instructor showed in class, which included "Make America Great Again" as an example of "Covert White Supremacy."

"Should something that doesn't ever happen be allowed?" Christ there are people defending this kind of stuff because it's "journalism" and it's their right to comment on anything and everything, but this isn't any kind of journalism, this is complete fantasy pushed as a narrative to harm trans kids
Some of us remember when Maitlis said that primary age school kids are having gender confirmation surgery. The BBC anti Trans bias goes back nearly a decade #BBCTransphobia

What happens when we ask the far right to judge what is and isn’t racist, and hand them the microphone to scream abuse at the left? Does society get more pleasant, do the lives of citizens improve, do the streets get safer? And if the answer is “obviously fucking not”, then what will we do about it?
