Certain gay men and lesbians have grown paranoid that too much acceptance of trans people could lead to the over-medicalization of gender nonconformity, ie 'transing the gay away.'

Let's talk about this. 🧵

Absolutely incredible turnout for Budapest Pride! So proud of all the organizers, including some old friends, who estimate hundreds of thousands— major embarrassment to Orban

Take a listen and seriously consider it. While this is not an uncommon practice, I am glad people are beginning to speak up about it.

1. New Hampshire in 2018 passed a bill protecting equal rights for transgender people.

Now, the legislature just passed a bill to reverse those protections, and several other bills targeting trans people.

New Hampshire Legislature Passes Bill Reversing Its Historic Trans Rights Protections
New Hampshire made history in 2018 for passing legislation to protect trans people despite Republican control of the house, senate and governorship. . Now, the state is backpedaling.

The estimated cost of the unnecessary troop mobilization to Los Angeles ($134M) would have funded gender-affirming care in the military for the next 26 years. The trans military ban was never about funding.

Despite years of citing severe staffing shortages as the reason Seattle police can’t respond fast enough or at all to many serious crimes, today Mayor Bruce Harrell assured Seattle residents that there’s always enough cops around to harass the city’s queer community.

I’ve been using the healthcare exchange for insurance for the past several years.

This would be a devastating loss for so many.
🚨 In addition to banning gender affirming medical treatment through Medicaid, Trump's reconciliation bill PROHIBITS health insurance purchased through Obamacare exchanges from offering transition care.

Detransition care, though, is specifically protected. CALL YOUR HOUSE REPS!

And that's not all: add in the changes Republicans are making to the Affordable Care Act (mostly not extending the premium tax credits), and Trump's "big, beautiful bill" will mean ***13.7 million more Americans will go without health insurance***

I know there's a lot going on, but I would like to highlight that Mike Johnson slipped language into an otherwise routine House procedural vote yesterday that now blocks Democrats from forcing an investigation into Pete Hegseth’s Signal scandal, through October.

Calling trans folks “infectious”? Criminalizing medical care? Calling medical researchers “politically captured academics”?

This is so disturbing and dangerous.
1. In a new leaked memo, Pam Bondi is directing the DOJ to go after trans care providers under "anti-FGM" laws.

She also has directed the investigation of HRT manufacturers.

She calls transgender people "infectious."

I’ve really liked several threads I’ve read by this author.

If you want to learn more about trans history and reality, this is a good account to follow.
Today is always a difficult holiday for me.

Today, I am thinking about resurrection.

But mostly I am thinking about death.

You must understand that trans people do not have a normal relationship with death.

We dance with it, skate tge razor's edge of life, and understand so much more for it.

Hate to break it to you, internet strangers, but the Reasonable Concerns industrial complex has convinced a significant percentage of the population that trans people spawn as blank slate NPCs whose entire internal monologue is "I must transition" and need to be Made Aware of basic information

I hadn’t gotten to post my March reads yet. 33 this month: 2x as many as February; 2/3 fiction, so more fiction than non-fiction has remained a trend for me so far this year. Lots of middle grade books as I needed easy reads during late nights while grieving and recovering from surgery.

From now on, can we just place fact checkers next to Republicans to say, “Andy, that’s not true,” every time they’re lying or talking about things they don’t know about?

1,100+ anti-trans articles. 4 UK papers. 1 year. That’s nearly 1 attack a day, per outlet. This isn’t free speech, it’s targeted hate. It’s deliberate. It’s dangerous. At Equality Amplified, we stand with our trans siblings, loudly, proudly, unapologetically. Always! 🏳️‍⚧️
Was actually wrong, I'm just two days away form having a full year's worth of stats.

It's going to come in at just under 1,100 articles about trans people in the Guardian, Times, Mail and Telegraph over that time, almost all attacks.

That's an ave of 3 a day every single day from just those papers
