Lovely way to brush off a gruesome, sadistic murder as a small faux pas while simultaneously blaming the victim.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video.
I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children.

People lament that things weren't as good as they were when they were kids but, jesus, is anything? When you're kids, the experience of new favorite things is *incredible*. It's why we shit on perfectly fine films now and then spend $50 on 4K steelbook special editions of ENEMY MINE and LADYHAWKE.

Read the fantastic "The Curse of Bigness" by @superwuster.bsky.social . Informative review of the evolution of legal/political thinking on antitrust efforts in the U.S. Changed the way I look at the issue. Illuminates structural/cultural failures contributing IMO partly to our current federal chaos.

In college, I slept through courses, daydreamed, skipped lectures, tore through books at the last minute so I could write a passable essay, and often stupidly viewed my education as something that was interfering with my life. Squandering a chance to learn is not new. I'm glad AI wasn't around then.

Along with all of the other things that this is, it is also the direct & inevitable consequence of the failure to put a lot more senior executive branch officials in jail for a very long time for Watergate, Iran-Contra, torture, & all of the other things in the last 50 years.
