As a new year's treat, here's Monster Under the Bed #1 by me and @jamesotron.bsky.social! Updating on this thread as I feel like it! Hope you dig it!
The first page of Monster Under the Bed. Alexa, a college-aged girl, stands in front of her house in a cute yellow pajama set saying goodbye to her off-panel parents who are going out of town. The splash page is framed as if she's being watched from a distance via telescope. Alexa: Have a great trip! Bring me lots of gifts! Give pappoús and Theo Demitri my love! Kaló taxidi! Alexa's mom (off panel): Goodbye, my beloved! Take good care! I love you my genius committed daughter, staying for her big midterm tests! Alexa's dad (off panel): Not even pappoús could be mad at tha--oof! Honey, I love your father, but he is not an understand-- Alexa's mom (off panel): He’s Greek! He’s been like this since you met him! Na! We love you! May God watch over you, my heart! Alexa: Love you too! A five panel page. Panel 1: Alexa goes back in the house, no longer in the circular framing. She says "Byeee!!!" Panel 2: Through the telescope, we see her through a window, taking a steamy shower. It's tastefully cut off. The shower goes Hssssh! Panel 3: We focus on a small basement window on the side of the house. Panel 4: Alexa, in a new set of clothes, is leaving the house now. Panel 5: She's driving away, but there's a shadowy figure under a tree, holding a long tube, watching... A 5 panel page. Panel 1 - The shadowy figure drops the telescope he was using. Panel 2: The basement window sits, silent and still. Panel 3: The figure, now more clearly a man, does a sliding kick on the basement window. Panel 4: He pops it out with a KRK. Panel 5: And then, from inside the basement, pops it back into place with a TMP. A 4 panel page. Panel 1: We see the face of our mysterious home invader. He's a white man in his say mid-20s. A strong jaw. Stringy blond hair. Haunted eyes. He's standing in the basement. Panel 2: He walks up the basement stairs. Panel 3: From a top-down view, we see him in what's clearly Alexa's room, the same one she's grown up in. Her pajamas from page 1 are on the floor. Her bed's a mess. She's got a duffel bag (she doesn't live here, she's just staying while her parents are out of town). Posters of hunky boys line the walls. Panel 4: With a devious smile on his face, our mysterious home invader crawls under Alexa's bed to wait.

That's just the beginning for 20261 In March we are going to launch the Kickstarter for The Conjure Man Dies. The Conjure Man Dies is considered to be the first African American detective story written by a Black author and we are really enjoying exploring the world of Harlem in the 1930s. Darren Soto, the artist on this comic, has been doing a wonderful job of bringing David Mariotte's script to life. Then thumbnails from Darren for pages 17-24 of the story!

Text from Facebook post for ArtistStan: This is ArtistStan's son. My family and I are heartbroken to share that ArtistStan has passed away on December 25, 2025. He fought with everything he had until the very end. For everyone seeing this post, you know how much Transformers meant to him and how much he enjoyed sharing his art with everyone. It feels fitting to say he reminds me a lot of the Autobots -- Fighting valiantly when the odds were against him, his selflessness, and his unwavering strength will always be remembered.
