Here's a true story.

I was raised by an antisemite, a man who was also determined that I too would become an antisemite. It kind of worked for a while, but only because I was parroting his Protocols bullshit without truly understanding or believing it.

Then one day, I made a Jewish friend.
ACAB I know, but when a cop clearly trying to do the right thing is pressured into quitting, it's time to throw the entire system in the bin and start over from scratch.

I've started on White Lotus season 3 but it's slow going because every time Saxon comes on screen I need to pause it and go take a shower. Seriously, one of the skeeziest creeps ever depicted on screen. He makes me cringe so hard I feel like I'm going to roll up like an armadillo.

Finally got around to watching White Lotus, and I have to ask... who cursed this hotel chain? Season 5 needs to be set in the corporate head office and show everyone freaking out about their run of terrible luck.

Keep cool. I beg you to avoid going outside unless you are going to somewhere cooler.

Check in on neighbours, family and friends who don't have aircon. Go to libraries and other cool places.

DO NOT GO OUTSIDE. DO NOT GO TO THE BEACH. This is deadly heat
Ok, it's going to be hot in a lot of places in Victoria, South Australia and NSW (again). Let's talk staying cool.

If you wouldn't walk barefoot on a path, don't let your dog do it.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay out of the sun.

Will we have a day of mourning for the victims of this domestic terrorist? Or is that only done to appease Zionists?

Regional Australia is full of these terrorists, what is the government doing about it? #auspol

Tim Picton's death is tragic and awful. However I am reminded that politicians care more about men than women by the fact that one-punch attacks are legislated against and criticised, and women who are killed by their partners rarely get the same political attention

Random discovery during a game this evening: feet per second converts almost one-to-one to kilometres per hour (add 10% to make it more precise) so you can easily get a sense of how quickly something is moving in your TTRPG. For example, 30 ft/rnd = 5 ft/sec = ~5.5km/h, i.e. a brisk walking pace.

One thing that inhibits productive conversations about the ethics of the current state of AI is how fuzzy the terminology is (sometimes deliberately so, I suspect). We've had machine learning, neural nets, and expert systems for decades. Modern LLMs are a very specific thing with unique issues.

If abstinence from AI is not the answer, then you asked the wrong question.
AI sits in billions of phones. Refusing to engage won't stop it, just leaves vulnerable people without knowledge. Demand ownership and control, not abstinence.
Abstinence From AI Is Not the Answer
Opinion | Refusing to use AI won’t protect society. Responsible resistance must include gaining knowledge about it.

Scoop: One of the first acts of Australia's new anti-corruption watchdog, NACC, was to carry out $30 million of office fit-outs.

It was only when staff were preparing the agency's first annual report that they realised the project broke laws meant to fight... corruption.

I'm trying to think which actor has played the most roles across both DC and Marvel adaptations, and so far it's Josh Brolin (Thanos, Cable, Jonah Hex) because Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, Johnny Storm, Hannibal in Blade 3) has only been in Marvel. Can we get to four?

I worked my way through damned near all of them before I found one that both worked and had tolerable side effects. Brains are complicated, and doctors should be encouraging patients to keep trying different drugs until they find one they're happy with.
I know quite a few people who have struggled to find anti-depressants that work for them. Usually people who also have ADHD, Autism and/or Complex PTSD from childhood trauma.
