The AUKUS deal will cost taxpayers at least $368bn to build nuclear submarines for the U.S. with zero guarantee of a single submarine for Australia. Join me in signing the @australiainstitute.org.au petition demanding more scrutiny

COVID is now in its 7th year. The US faces a 12th wave, with 1.2M recorded deaths. Global deaths near 27M, the true death toll is far higher. Transmission remains high (~1 million infections/day), reinfections are widespread, and Long COVID remains a mass-disabling condition affecting millions.
Public health collapsing as COVID pandemic enters its 7th year
The systematic dismantling of public health services in the United States, including childhood vaccinations that have saved millions of lives, is a historic crime committed by the US ruling elite.

The artwork, Forever, by Danie Mellor features historical photographic portraits of Wurundjeri women. More here […]

today's bright spot:

when i was an undergrad, i only knew a few out trans people on campus (and i myself was not among them yet)

today, for the fourth semester in a row, 10% of my undergrad class is openly trans/gender-nonconforming.

we will not go back.

You know libraries are awesome, right? For so many things beyond books, but especially for books. And especially for authors. Please ask your library to order in our books. It's a sale, but more importantly it puts our books in front of so many new readers. That's powerful magic.

1/8 Malinauskas has misappropriated cultural safety. Cultural safety cannot be invoked without racial literacy or it is a meaningless exercise. Racial literacy requires that BOTH the interpersonal AND structural/systemic nature of racism is examined. Cultural un-safety is a form of racism. #auspol

I know quite a few people who have struggled to find anti-depressants that work for them. Usually people who also have ADHD, Autism and/or Complex PTSD from childhood trauma.
Antidepressants failing many people, major study reveals
A major Australian study finds standard antidepressants are not effective for about 20 per cent of people, who may need alternative treatments.
