I needed a "feel good" story. Maybe you do, too. Here's one (free):

A dog helped an injured wild crow. Now they’re best friends.
“There’s an important lesson there, you know, about everybody coexisting and getting along,” said Autumn Buck, who helped save the crow.

Ok security friends and those who hire… trans folks are being forced out of the military and being dumped into a terrible job market. I’ve got some skilled cyber and intel folks who come highly recommended. Can we find some opportunities?

Wholesome story about some big Chicago dudes
For some reason I'm thinking of the two huge dudes who showed up to my local parish a couple years back. We'd just opened an overnight shelter there and there had been protests elsewhere, people standing outside yelling shit so migrants couldn't sleep, etc.

So here come these giant guys.
Trump on DC: "We haven't had to bring in the regular military, which we're willing to do if we have to. And after we do this, we'll go to another location and we'll make it safe also ... Chicago is a mess. And we'll straighten that one out probably next"

so, to understand this story there are a few things you need to know

- my cat, Gus, believes he is a trained support animal
- he is not (he has relatives who are, but he is not)
- he believes he is a seizure-detecting dog
- he is not a dog
- I do not get seizures

Showing up for your community and supporting people that are doing what is right <3
Grassroots activism gets results, whether the activists are on the right or left. While party Democrats have largely failed to respond adequately to Trump, millions of Americans hold the line for the country they love—one school board meeting at a time.

#uspoli I've been thinking lately about how the political situation in the US will not be better for a very, very long time. You can't spend decades only in crisis mode; you'll die of that. So we all need to balance working for the common good and living good lives. We only get one life.
Saw someone upbraiding someone else for having a hobby while the world is on fire, and, my friends:

1. The world is ever on fire, this is today's conflagration;

2. If you don't find time for rest and joy the fire will consume you;

3. Don't let people shame you for being an entire human.

Yes, I will do this. One like, one opinion about Star Trek. I’ve got plenty.
Why not ...

One like = One opinion about Star Trek

This situation turned out to be even worse than the absolute horrorshow it started as. Unconscionable , illegal, and fucking kindergarten-brat behavior from this publisher. I'm heartbroken and pissed the hell off for every author they've screwed over.
So, this Unbound/Boundless fiasco. I was going to be polite about it, but after this morning’s email: no

Sasha could use a roommate and is the kindest and most chill person around. The farm has a horse and sheep! Please put out the word, especially for queer and trans folks looking for a safe place to stay.
I am living on a hobby farm in Southern MN, and my dad is about to move into assisted living. I'll stay in the house. There is a lot of room here and it's safer if I don't live alone. So I want to put the word out a bit that I am looking for a roommate. Hard line on no smoking.

Just some amazing content here
Incredibly, panelists are hardly ever considered on the basis of fitness for participation. Years ago on the musksite I wrote up a bunch of things I heard from panelists over the years. Let's see how many I remember.
but when I was a baby writer, new to the scene, I wrote mini essays about my fitness to be a panel participant for everything I signed up for, because *there was less for anyone to google*. I *needed* to sell myself on the forms, because my track record otherwise wasn't very impressive.

I have been so disappointed by the downgrading of the online components of conventions. I know it takes tech and know how and people and that con coms often don’t have enough volunteers. But it feels imperative to make cons more accessible in this way.
So I will say this as gently as I can: given the current state of the world, cons (especially held in the US) should really keep or enhance their online programming instead of eliminating it. I understand it takes resources to run a hybrid con but the alternative is to exclude the rest of the world
