Why on earth should the solution to the problem of ill-informed people being assholes be for artists to stop making art?

I'd argue that it's the *rude* part we need to excise from this situation. I don't want artists developing thick skin and great comebacks.

I want them to make things.
I mean, things are tough all over. If rude criticism stops you from making art, you should probably not be making art.

Trying something I've done before with analog and digital layered together. This is the first watercolor/colored pencil layers on a 20x20"/50x50cm cradled wood panel that will be an abstract representation of Tatooine.

More soon. ; )

Research is the MAGIC TIME on any project where I get to go have fun and explore. And 100% what you are looking for are the surprising and amazing details and textures that you could never make up
This is such a misunderstanding of why writers, artists, and designers do research to begin with, which is to find something unexpected, not capture the average or find reference for the default.

And, as always, the biggest misapprehension: We don’t want to NOT do this part. It’s fun to learn shit
Anyone who supports this is an embarrassment. "Instead of typing it out they'll generate their idea"? Are you insane?

Call yourself whatever you want but you aren't creatives, that's for sure.

In July I was given this gift. A 3D printed Canti from FLCL.

I broke it before it got home. And while I started repairs almost immediately, it kept getting forgotten. Now, finally back together AND painted, it'll live in this tray I use for burning incense.

A fitting space. <3

I saw Mulholland Drive in an old-timey theater on the block in NJ where they filmed a bunch of the Sopranos. It was all heavy red curtains and plush chairs with a chandelier in the lobby.

It felt like the perfect venue.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

The good news is that I *don't* have a UTI, because I spent the better part of last night and this morning freaking out a little.

The bad news is that when you're severely constipated, you can have a bad time that crosses over to make other parts of you hurty

Asking again so that I can figure out my final plans for Magfest in January-

Can someone who has sold in the super magfest marketplace in recent years please DM me to chat about some logistics?

An easy way to explain luddites:

Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.

And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.

That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

Hello. Mutuals. Have you ever had your work in the Magfest marketplace before?

Could you message me so I can ask you about some logistics? This year will be the first time I'm selling work there and there's some details I need to figure out.

THANKS.

Everyone has the capacity to be inspired by art. To feel the heat off these things.

But you have to decide to do it. You have to want to be moved. You have to accept that art- books, movies, games, paintings- will make you weep, or laugh, or change your mind.
