Look, you can have low taxation or you can have functioning public services. You can't have both. Lots of people, including the UK government, seem to have forgotten this fact. Taxation isn't theft. It's the foundation of society.

Reform has lost over 5% of councillors it had elected six months ago

A @matildamartin.bsky.social deep dive into the councils won by Farage's party in May found what a local government expert called "unusual" levels of churn

Exclusions, suspensions and resignations have taken place nationwide
Reform Is Losing Councillors Elected In May At An 'Unusual' Rate
Reform UK has lost more than 5 per cent of the councillors it had elected six months ago, an analysis by PoliticsHome has found.

A wealth tax is a progressive Green tax, since wealth comes from or creates carbon emissions (or does both), so yes #TaxTheRich and #WealthTax

Dragonbane with mates online: a wolfkin, a mallard, a dwarf, and a human walk into a burned out castle half expecting a scooby-doo villain to be behind the stories of a headless knight terrorising passing merchants. Going OK until the dwarf shouted about the occupants of the tree (spoilers?)

This. This is what I've been trying to get my words around. Stand for something, stop shifting about following the popular-with-right-wing-media fascists
Politics is not like selling biscuits, where the task is to find out what people like & flog it to them.

It's a moral activity. It's about arguing for the things you believe in. It's about *shaping* the "median voter".

Farage has moved the centre-ground of politics. His opponents can move it back.
Crying racism only hurts Labour

Activists like it, but the median voter will feel attacked.

Nigel Farage doesn’t think the Prime Minister should have free speech in this country. But he’ll tell foreigners that yours is somehow under threat from the Prime Minister. He’s a whiny little liar. Always has been. Always will be.

There seems to be some *confusion*
among Reform supporters over Nathan Gill being one of them

“But, but, Reform didn’t exist when he took his Russian bribes”

“But, but he was in UKIP”

“But, but it has nothing to do with Farage, he barely knew the guy”

So here’s a little history lesson 👍🏼🧵

Now he needs to say this on telly, and get his cabinet acting as if reform are the enemy they are, rather than trying to be like them. Get a grip Starmer!
“History will not forgive us if we do not use every ounce of our energy to fight Reform. There is an enemy. It actually goes against the grain of our history. It’s right there in plain sight in front of us. We have to win this battle.”

Just for comparison,
the term "child poverty" has only been referenced 869 times,

"homelessness" 627.

"cost of living" 719

"housing crisis" 310

You know, minor topics which are obviously secondary to demonising people for coming to the UK. 5/

@teamlabouruk.bsky.social see this? This is what you get when you go chasing newspaper votes. Remember what you used to stand for and accept that Reform voters will never vote for you. Do what you campaigned on or die a death of nobody caring about you.
Starmer has the worst political instincts of any party leader in history. His entire strategy is trying to appease a bunch of people who already decided years ago they hated him. Meanwhile he's pissing off everybody who tolerated him.
