We all play our own way, and the two players who are new to rpg (both DnD widows) seem to be more keen on discussing what to ask the npc than actually asking the npc, but they tell me they're enjoying the game, which is all that matters

Sneak rolls on the trot so we stopped at a cliff hanger, but no Aodhan the next game because he got his robe caught on a spyke bush, shouted that he hadn't seen once for years, then stayed out of the fight he'd just alerted while he studied the flora. Lucky they had a replacement mage that day /end

I rarely know who I'll get each session, if something happens they've got to deal, plus one of the non social workers is less reliable than the others, so it keeps me on my feet - guarding the donkey can very quickly become charging in to save the day (or vice versa like when Aodhan failed two 1/2

But our sessions are a little under two hours every four weeks because they happen during work hours (wellbeing is important) so we never get very far during the session because I'm a dawdler of a player/gm.

Currently 2, advertised up front due to playing with social workers who have to do their job sometimes. Toyed with having the characters mysteriously slipping into a non interactive state, the reason for which we would discover together during the game.
