The Leander School District is huge and is comprised of a number of high schools.
In 2021, Out of the blue, a group of "parents" demanded a dozen or so books be removed from schools, starting with (what else?) Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe. The list was mostly GNs, including My Friend Dahmer.

Bad Bunny's halftime show has me reflecting on my disappointment that the US education system as a whole isn't more committed to multilingualism. So many languages & cultures are part of our various communities & we ignore real opportunities to actually celebrate that as part of our broader culture

Tampa skews more Cuban than Puerto Rican I think (I'm not a census) but there's a fair amount of both folks here and all of this seems incredibly.. normal.. to me? Like there is nothing here that strikes me as outlandish or offensive. It's a bop and you can dance to it.

Now that I know why they call it a bowl, I have put on the super bowl for @weregeek.bsky.social's Seahawks. I know very little about football, being a hockey person, but I have been informed it is my patriotic duty to watch Bad Bunny later, too, so I shall do so.

NOW they're saying there's a chance the first rehab might reconsider & the others won't think about it til Monday.
So keep her until Monday, right? Wrong.
I told case manager I'm not trained or capable & they need to keep her until they can hand her off. What'll happen remains unknown.

In a shocking turn of events, she could barely stand and we made the decision to send her back to the hospital.
Didn't even make it 24 hours.
I feel like I failed somehow even though I know I didn't. I told the EMTs, "I couldn't lift her," when it took two of them to do it. No shit I couldn't.

I'm so tired. Didn't sleep well. Need to pick up nearly 300 dollars worth of medications because her insurance got changed without my knowing it. Anxiety high, morale low; please send cute dog pictures.

Mom's home. Good luck to us both. It took over an hour to get her settled in bed. My back is screaming bloody murder at me. They sent her home way too soon but as she said, they were worried about emptying the bed. She and Josie were happy to see each other, at least.

I wish people would stop wasting time pointing out the hypocrisy of the right. They see it as the natural order of things that there are two sets of rules and the more permissive go to the people who act and believe "correctly," them. Internalize that disconnect, they make a lot more sense.
