A generic Chicago-centered posting account. Runs a mean pick six.
So what happened to @acabcalloway.bsky.social? Sounds like I missed a great crash out.

This made me curious enough to check and Codepink hasn't said a single fucking thing about Greenland
One thing very tangible and expected about the Greenland Crisis is the quietest posters on this site have been the "everything I don't like is American Imperialism" brigade, which - hm.

So the idea here is:

1. MLPS has been taken over by an invading military force.

2. “General Strike” to hurt the economy of the invaded city.

3. Success!!!
every single successful general strike in US history has had union backing through the local AFL-CIO

this is the first time it’s been called for since the 1940s

This is the type of thing you post when your own career feels hollow and empty and you assume that applies to everyone else too.
I propose Tyler Harper and Jay Kang go do a mandatory year of service rn so we don’t have to hear from them for a bit

I'm going to say it plainly: Vote scolding is good, vote shaming is good. You should be reminded that the choices you make have consequences especially if those consequences are dire. If you don't like people pointing out what your decisions lead to, try making good decisions.
Pretty fucking wild to see people in January 2026 whining about “vote scolding” to defend people who couldn’t get off their ass to vote against Trump. Whatever they thought of Harris, they can never honestly answer whether the world would be better if she’d won (lol of fucking course it would).

Announces a “plan” that still lacks detail on funding, implementation, or scale.

Then posts a link to sign up for a program that already exists.

Honestly, incredible political tweet.
Last week, we announced a plan to make child care universal. Today, applications are open for pre-K & 3-K. If your child is turning 3 or 4, apply now for the fall at: myschools.nyc

People’s inability to interpret text is a serious problem.

It’s a big one on this app…
me: “training” is a useful rhetorical slight of hand

a bunch of genuine fucking idiots: “oh so you think the problem is they need better training”

I kind of wonder how much would change if CPS just straight up sorted tracts by income for Tier selection rather than the overly complicated setup they have now.

I’m glad Bluesky has found the real victims here: the anarchist fuckups who use a woman’s death at the hands of a paramilitary goon squad as a pass to engage in random vandalism.

There are 2.7 million people in Chicago.

Chicago has 11,500 police officers.

In recent years officers have used tasers fewer than 100 times per year, & discharged their firearm fewer than 50 times per year.

Within the last 7 months this guy did both.

[And Bovino has been present at 2 shootings]
So it turns out this guy had previously screwed up in a huge way, by reaching in to a vehicle then getting dragged as the driver tried to drive away. Then, yesterday, he went & stood in front of the car, which the cop experts on TV say they’re taught not to do.

He shouldn’t have been on the streets

One thing to note about all this is Bsky’s very aggressive ability to block people and groups hasn’t managed to quell the toxic stuff on here.
This is a very good thread and you should read the whole thing. Two addenda re: online communities:

1) you need to have defined rules but the flexibility to trust your gut and boot people on your say so rather than letting them rules-lawyer you

2) the people who say they hate drama cause 90% of it
In short, every shithead you don't ban costs you ten other customers.

"A [potentially regular] customer doesn't say anything but never comes back" doesn't register with you as An Event the way that kicking someone out (temporarily or permanently) does, so it's extremely easy to miss it.
