Catching up on some news this morning and they were showing video of yesterday's Minnesota shooting. I can't get over the reporters issuing content warnings for foul language rather than the fact it was a video of someone dying.

Don't forget folks: allowing yourself a vision of the future you'd want for our country and planet - not the one you'd settle for, not the one you fear, but the future of your dreams - isn't naive, it's a vital cognitive skill. That's how we articulate what we most value. What's worth fighting for.
Instead of whatever this is, we should have a government getting lots of new homes and apartments built, lots of clean energy built, lots of high speed rail and transit and bike lanes built, human rights for everyone, economic & healthcare opportunities for all, & innovation that leads the world.

The respectability policing that goes on after cops or federal agents (who are also cops, y'all) kill someone is always unbearable. Dissecting the actions of the victim, putting them on trial when they cannot defend themselves, declaring they should have done this or that. Did they deserve to die?!

trump did january 6th. republicans did january 6th. violent traitors did january 6th. they stormed the capitol, destroyed the building and threatened to kill members of congress. ashli babbitt was a violent insurrectionist. the capitol police protected people. these are truths we need to repeat.

One of the nice parts about the new year is using it as an invitation to get back into good habits that fell by the wayside. I left journaling behind this fall and got back into it over the last few weeks. What a relief it's been to get stuff rattling in my brain out and onto paper.

Exhausting levels of discourse about "can Bsky grow" and "this is why Bsky can't grow" and I'm just going to say I have never been seriously dogpiled on here because every time I see someone posting something deranged I block them, same thing I used to do with Twitter. It makes for a nice time!

muting threads is also a great way to keep from letting this place destroy your mental health. if things are looking bad, just get out.
We are all in a state of constant panic and terror. It’s important to take a second when you see something online that triggers you to ask yourself “am it really triggered or am I just experiencing nonstop psychic damage from the world and my brain sees this as an outlet for my fear and rage.”

the reason people sometimes act madder at democrats than republicans when republicans do impossibly evil shit is the same reason why, if you hired an exterminator to handle a roach infestation and he showed up to feed and play with them instead, your first instinct wouldn’t be to yell at the roaches

It's this but then the exterminator sends you text messages asking for more money every 3 hours for the rest of your life
Now is really not the time to sow distrust and punch down on independent media. It’s particularly galling to do in light of how we’ve actually gotten news and information about the latest global conflicts and federal corruption in the U.S.
