If you live in the Treasure Valley and are worried about increased ICE presence here... about their lawless, reckless behavior, about their racial profiling, about how it doesn't seem to be about law enforcement at all... here's a chance to help protect your community.

the least shocking thing in the epstein files that wont get enough attention. police regularly arrest and charge victims to coerce them into participating, often jailing them in conditions that are worse.
jesus the Palm Beach Police really sought arrest warrants against underage Epstein victims for coming forward and cooperating, and (purported) admitting to crimes, and it caused the victims to become uncooperative with the federal investigation

When we decide that people are "criminals" and not humans, we end up being absolute fine with whatever violence, humiliation and inhumanity is visited upon them. We do this quite often in the U.S. It's not enough to say these men are "innocent" and hence do not belong in CECEOT. No one does.

Mental health care being treated as some luxury rather than essential care that keeps whole communities safer and happier. We will inevitably find more expensive solutions to handle this - like prisons!

Thousands of articles, podcasts, and "think pieces" where liberals dismiss "defund" as unpopular, and yet the policy demand to reduce the size of police, prosecutor, and prison budgets is one of the most popular, consistently polled issues in the U.S: equalityalec.substack.com/p/convention...

A new travel ban just dropped, more horrifying than ever. This likely impacts thousand of people across Idaho This ban really should put to rest the argument for "legal immigrants". Tons of people here are legal immigrants, have built lives here, and it's all about to be taken away.
NEW: President Trump is expanding the previous 19-country travel ban to a whopping 39 countries (plus the Palestinian Authority), and appears to expand a block on legal immigration to now include spouses, children, and parents of U.S. citizens, who were previously exempted.

I know folks have made this point already, but it's worth remembering that the *Kootenai County Sheriff* threatened to pepper spray an auditorium full of people at a public event because he was annoyed at one person (who was not breaking any laws)
Sheriff Norris threatened to pepper spray her. She says she realized this situation wasn’t going to de-escalate because pepper spraying her meant pepper spraying the people in the auditorium too.

She said it was a defensive comment.

She only heard Sheriff Norris say “get her” to unmarked men.

I think it was a huge mistake to make our society so car-dependent. But man. The Discourse today is a good reminder that when it comes to roadways policy, otherwise progressive anti-car people quickly become some of the most pro-carceral, anti-civil liberties people on the planet.

Disturbing tale of the surveillance state none of us asked for being used by law enforcedment all over the U.S. for any reason or no reason
In October, statewide news reported that a sheriff's deputy in Texas searched thousands of Flock cameras in Washington for 'Had an abortion, search for female.’ New documents obtained by RANGE show Spokane County Sheriff's Office cameras were accessed in that search:
