Trans Day of Remembrance is a somber reminder of the impacts pervasive transphobia and an epidemic of violence bring to our trans community. Our gender identity should never make us a target.

This day also reminds us of our responsibility to keep each other safe and speak out against injustice.

As Idaho's elected officials continue bullying the trans community through legislation and harmful rhetoric, we cannot ignore a harsh reality: trans people face violence at rates four times higher than cisgender people.

We asked a former federal agent to review videos showing use of force against protesters. Here's what he found.
Use of force by federal agents has become a focus of legal disputes as the Trump administration contends the tactics are necessary. Our visual investigation breaks down some of the key moments.

SCOTUS granted the Trump administration's request to enforce its discriminatory passport policy while @aclu.org's lawsuit makes its way through the courts.

Now anyone who applies for a new, corrected, or replacement passport or for a passport renewal is at risk of having an inaccurate passport.

An increase in racial profiling has led to the detainment of more than 170 U.S. citizens across the country, according to recent ProPublica reporting. We saw this firsthand at the events in Wilder, where everyone was detained, including children and citizens.

More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And…

We cannot look away from what happened in Wilder, Idaho. This was a violent display of government power over civilians.

And we agree with the Statesman that such an egregious use of force would not happen at a non-Latino event anywhere in Idaho.

Idahoans should be able to attend family-friendly community events without fear of being terrorized by law enforcement.

What happened in Wilder is unacceptable and should never happen again.

Idahoans deserve accountability about what happened in Wilder on October 19, and we are not getting it.

This is the truth: Hundreds of innocent people, including children, were harmed at the hands of our government.

Thank you to everyone who has generously donated to the Idaho Familias Assistance Fund so far. If you're looking for ways to help, donations to this community fund will provide mutual aid to the Wilder families who have suddenly lost a loved one and don't know if they'll ever see them again.

The governor's statement celebrates hundreds of innocent people, including children, being zip-tied and detained as a success for justice because five people were allegedly engaging in illegal gambling. We think that's despicable.

UPDATE: A new CBP policy only recognizes M and F sex designations for Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) purposes. If your passport has an “X” marker, you can still travel internationally. However, you may need to select an “M” or “F” designation when submitting information to your airline.
