The ideal novel is someone who wants to be writing about being an English professor with affairs and depression being forced to write about spies and murders.
this is why i, a crying midwit, am an aficionado of the literary thriller. good writing, lots of stuff happens!!!
My primary problem with a lot of more serious literary fiction isn’t that it isn’t well written or compelling it’s just that a lot of it is about “I’m articulate and depressed” and I kind of want like, something to happen, I guess. I suppose I’m something of a philistine in that way.

US military aid to Ukraine was the single most effective military spending we’ve had since aiding the Mujahideen against the Soviets in Afghanistan. We reduced Russia’s military by like half for circa five percent of the annual Pentagon budget. That’s a goddamn bargain.

tbh I’d bet the fatal decision making here happened back when interest rates went up in 2022 and sunk cost fallacy is the only reason they shipped.
it's insane to me as someone who watched the live service model grow into what it is today that these kinds of games aren't even given a month to live and potentially grow and gain and audience when something like league or fortnite didn't blow up overnight.
