it's not that i ever doubted that being a barista was a skilled position, but my year-long effort to try to produce a half-decent latte at home has convinced me that a good barista is easily more skilled than virtually every c-suite executive on the planet

Wilson's win means an end to heavy-handed corporate patronage in the mayor's office going back to 2013, a lineage running from the serial child predator who resigned in disgrace to the mayor who inherited all his donors & teargassed the city, to the guy who supported both of them to the bitter end

Under-the-weather TikTokers are slicing raw potatoes and placing them in their — and their children’s — socks before bed. The theory is that the potato draws out toxins.
However, experts warn against relying on folk remedies over medical care.

there’s a kind of slacktivism that’s basically like “all you have to do is be the exact same type of mean you already are online but about something important” and once you recognize it, you’ll see it all the time

This is unironically true, the fractional distilling of fossil fuels and natural gas leads to a surprisingly pure end product of propane, where-as other outputs like gas are carefully managed mixed composites of many variable compounds only managed into a tolerably consistent, treated product later.

I’ve said this many times but it’s worth repeating:
When it comes to voting, we have an Election Day deadline.
When it comes to election results, we have an Election Week.
The more media sets this expectation, the less confusion and more trust we’ll have in our great vote by mail system. #waelex

Maybe don't claim victory for crappy establishment politicians quite so quickly next time?
