imagine a world where just one tech company founder was kinda cool. I'm not even asking for awesome, just like... not the worst?

Like no offense, but it's a fucking nightmare just existing as a trans person. It wasn't anywhere near as bad back in the mid 2010s.

It used to be that this kind of reporting was reserved for a CEO like Steve Jobs actually presenting a new technology on a stage that would be for sale that year. Now a CEO tweets and it's on every god damn news outlet like it's already real. Musk promised a man on Mars in 10 years... in 2011!
CEO said a thing!

I wish I had taught English composition from 1970-2015 so I would have never had to deal with ChatGPT, which has made all grading a miserable, meandering, experience.

"X doesn't violate our Y policy" is corporate speak for "we don't wanna do it." Even if it doesn't violate their policy (which it probably does), their policy isn't written in stone or given by god. It can be changed in response to evolving situations and often is when it suits them!

The thing that makes Star Trek utopian isn’t the end of scarcity or the harmony between all peoples it’s also that the guy on the ship who gets laid the most plays the trombone at work and periodically does community theater

Video game criticism is so far behind the actual audiences of video games. In some ways video game journalism still acts like it's 1995 when evaluating the "entire field."
top 100 lists are stupid fun, but also, not having a single moba or mmo on your top 100 list is a little embarrassing imo

my 3 year old knows about zombies through the music video for thriller, so the only thing they think zombies do is dance.

In 2026 I'm gonna embrace being wrong sometimes (and being willing to be corrected) rather than trying to be right all the time, which is exhausting.

if I wrote a video essay on every single episode of adventure time every day i could finish the project within a year of starting. i'd also probably finish off my sanity in the process

The whole situation is absurd, but this is such a bizarre statement. A former public professional relationship is exactly the kind of situation where one may feel obliged to distance themselves from a mold-brained freak. I can't think of a situation more personally necessary to critique someone.

I wonder how long until movie studios realize they could just take older animated movies, redub them with famous actors from today, and rerelease them in theaters. Seems to be exactly the kind of the craven execs would want to do.

(Sorry for speaking this evil into the world)

I feel like people tend to pick items/tools/skills in games like Silksong which they think will make the game easier for them. I think that's the wrong choice most of the time, you should pick the items/tools/skills that will make you better at the game/master the game's mechanics.

One reason I dont watch a lot of normal political content from liberals is because it's clear that so much of their political project is just "owning the right wingers" for likes and clicks.

If Jimmy Fallon, the least offensive idiot to ever grace late night television, is on the chopping block, every person who doesn't wear a MAGA hat should assume they're in danger of losing their jobs too.
Don't buy the canard that this is about Charlie Kirk. Abusing state power to lean on corporate leaders and get Jimmy Kimmel off the air because he told jokes about the president and made him feel bad was always the plan.

We're living in the future where absolutely anyone Trump doesn't like, or Trump might not like, is risking their job. He's not even popular you capitulating morons!

Conservatives make way more sense if you accept that whatever they want to be true is true as far as they're concerned. You find this tendency across the entire spectrum of right wing beliefs. It's more spiritually certain way to live, that's for sure. It's also abhorrent.

Dems desperately need to stop dwelling on what is "strategically" good or not. Republicans control all three branches of the government and haven't made a "strategically good" move (by Dem standards) in over a decade. Voters hope their reps stand for something and aren't just making it up as they go

I'm was a near-impoverished kid who grew up with Nintendo, spends way too much time talking about Nintendo games, and still, Nintendo-centrism is annoying. I've been trying to stop contributing to it.

I find it so funny that they didn't have chatgpt pen the script (for obvious reasons)
OpenAI confirms they're helping make an AI-generated movie called 'Critterz'

• Goal is to finish production in 9 months
• Budget is ~$30M
• Plan is to debut the film at Canne
• 'Paddington 3' writers penned the script
• Art will be fed into Chat GPT 5 and other image models
