Since everyone’s talking about Metropolis now it’s 2026 (and Lang’s version is vague on the setting, it’s only really the Moroder cut which places it in that setting), probably should point you to some idiot wanging on about the film again…
Building and rebuilding Metropolis - The Spoilist
Metropolis began production in 1925. We look back at a century of changing reception, edits and reassembly.

Not that Scotland has a shallow talent pool or anything, but Sanjeev Kholi is the presenter of STV’s Hogmanay show, and a guest on BBC Scotland’s show which is on at exactly the same time.

Any time you want to put a joke in this, Robert or Greg, that would be lovely.

Well that was lovely. Well done BBC Scotland. #beingstanleybaxter

Since we’ve had docs on Rikki and Stanley on Hogmanay, can we get one on Bill Paterson, please? Yes he’s still working but he’s also now reached Scottish national treasure status.

Whoever the fuck that lad was that did a five minute set on Scotland Stands Up about basically not being Ncuti Gatwa… Jesus wept, pal.

In fact, they’re repeating it from half ten through to the Bells, if the thought of Queen of the New Year doesn’t appeal…
RewindTV is showing The Steamie. So it definitely feels like Hogmanay now, even if none of the Scottish channels could be fucked showing it this year.

I see getting booted by Kilmarnock hasn’t dented Kettlewell’s self-belief in the slightest then…

One bright side to this year’s BBC Hogmanay show? No Marti Pellow. He showed up so often on last year’s show I presumed he was either tipping, or had dirt on, the head of commissioning.

BBC Scotland and STV with pre-recorded shows for the Bells again. At least Alba’s live with their ceilidh.

Intrigued by STV showing a new short film with Peter Mullen after their show though. Sounds very worthy, but can’t imagine it’s getting ANY audience in the circumstances, which is a shame.
