Very shortsighted. Obeying in advance. Truly unfortunate.
Admission to Africana studies, Asian studies, data analytics, disability studies, Middle East studies, philosophy, religious studies, Spanish and women’s and gender studies programs has been suspended starting with the 2025-26 school year “in compliance with SB1."

This so directly out of the Nazi playbook. The very obvious plan is to get rid of the independent accreditors and put all universities under jurisdiction of the federal government. This is how Hitler took over German academia and made it a wing of his party.

disparate impact might be the closest legal acknowledgement of structural racism we have. so, of course they're going to attack it because denying structural racism is at the core of colorblindness, white innocence, victimhood, and nostalgia, racism, resegregation, and whitewashing history

This is what happens when folks think the Heritage Foundation is just playing at things. I wouldn’t be surprised if a future EO doesn’t enshrine slavery in flowery language. Seems like that is where we’re headed.
One of the wilder political things in recent history is that Project 2025 publicly released a 900 page document laying out their plans to roll back 100 years of human progress and then during the campaign Republicans just said "no we're not :)" and then they won and now they're doing it all.
My god. He’s gone after the Civil Rights Act!!!!

Third party assholes have been fucking this country for decades.
Al Gore didn’t hold back: The Trump admin is “attacking the heart of truth,” twisting facts like the Nazis did in the 1930s. From climate denial to rewriting the Ukraine war, it’s all about power—not reality.
Gore warned the U.S. is under siege—and every former leader should speak out like he did.

A colleague at Stanford’s business school used The Stanford Daily to argue—poorly—against DEI. The piece was riddled with historical errors and left one searching for fact, so I broke my public writing hiatus to respond.

I hope you’ll read and share the piece.

What DEI threatens isn’t merit. It’s monopoly.
Political science professor Hakeem Jefferson argues for DEI's importance to de-monopolizing universities.

Good question.
My question to Americans: How does it feel to be on the same side as Russia and North Korea at the UN? Does it feel like you're heading in the right direction?

Ian Fleming's original James Bond novels haven't aged well. For example, Moonraker - published almost exactly 70 years ago in April 1955 - features a villain who's a super-rich industrialist and rocket-maker seeking to cause chaos because he's a secret Nazi. Such a silly idea!

Mark, with all due respect. Sit down and visit with some folks who are intimately familiar with the NIH, the scientific process, how grants are handled and funded.

The NIH is not a business. There are no shareholders. There is no mandate for profit. This is not a business model and should not be.
Trump is doing what you do after you acquire a company. Crazy I know. But reality. The Dir of NIH should reach out to DOGE and offer to bring them in to remove inefficiencies.

There are always some and the Director know what they are.

DOGE gets a win. NIH gets back to work.
Hi Mark, how do you feel about cancer research being canceled.
