They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

Makes me sad re-reading this amazing letter from ex-Watergate Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox sent to high school seniors in 1994 after they asked him “What should Americans learn from Watergate?” 20 years later in ‘94.

When I lived in Chicago there was a “city” parking lot on my walk to school, but the city sold the property to investors in Saudi Arabia, so the entire block was never maintained or salted and I had to slide across it like a baby deer, all winter, multiple times a day.
People are willing to walk a lot farther when you make it a pleasant walk.
