Jingle bells! I’ve had my first “beware the perils of the Christmas party” email from a solicitor’s firm.

I was struck by his ending on the language of "campaign forevermore" which is perhaps the distinctive feature of Corbyn's political method & commitment, co-founding this new party 33 years after entering parliament, and a significant part of the appeal being made to members

Interesting to see so many great British patriots right now begging an American president to bankrupt one of Britain’s last remaining truly national institutions.

If you don’t like the BBC, I suggest that you go to America and watch their TV for a day. It gives you a migraine. The BBC also keeps the standards of the other outlets relatively high. If you think we watch shit now, imagine it with no BBC. And they actually care about drama, children’s, factual.

Charles Moore doing a merry old right wing supermarket sweep on R4 Today this morning and piling all of his culture war top buys into his ‘BBC is biased basket’ - climate change and Black Lives Matter (it isn’t? they don’t?) were straight in there. Surprised he didn’t grab the National Trust as well

Charles Moore is only 69 but has reached the quavery, wavery, pantomime-damey voice and the reds-under-the-bed paranoia at which a microphone should be withdrawn.

I think if i was the chair of the BBC I might prioritise the BBC as a forum to speak to stakeholders -- licence fee payers -- over a select committee

The BBC's senior leadership resigning en masse over one dodgy edit in one programme, simply because the right wing press demands it, tells you everything you need to know about where the power really lies in that relationship

If James Cleverly is what passes for a "big beast" I am tempted to quote Michael Foot on David Steel in 1979: "He's passed from rising hope to elder statesman without any intervening period whatsoever."

Slowly realising Badenoch is one of my favourite political figures ever: sold to us as a firebrand truth teller but is instead an amusing and self satirising mix of arrogance and vulnerability. To be clear she'd make an awful PM but a brilliant character in a comic novel.
On the Today programme, Kemi Badenoch tells Emma Barnett: “You are asking questions that are changing the very focus of what it is I’m talking about.”

Yes, that’s how interviews work.

Trump has posted on Truth Social:

“[Zelensky] disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace.”

TNT Sports have announced a grassroots initiative to encourage cycling use, as the broadcaster becomes the home of 2500 hours of elite racing.

I don't know. Perhaps the way to support grassroots is to put more cycling (such as the Tour) on free-to-air, rather than a big paywall?
