My 150th species from within Dundee this year - a surprise find in Eastern Cemetery this morning on my way out to Broughty Ferry and Balmossie - a Ring-necked Parakeet. It turns out there are 'some' of these birds present in grounds of Gardyne College (0.5miles from EC).

An excellent piece, by Graeme Smith, on the pleasure and pain of seeing Scotland at the World Cup over the years. Includes a much-needed explanation of why St Etienne is the Motherwell of France.

Didn’t get chance to properly post yesterday, as a bit full on, but I have written a book. On the history of music in Sheffield. Out in May via the excellent @whiterabbitbks.bsky.social. Pre-order available now and full PR spiel here. Thanks for the love so far

Stone Roses, Glasgow Green, 1990. The noise from the crowd in this bootleg is as exciting as the band. So grateful to have been there, aged sixteen. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bqhr...

@peteralanross.bsky.social 'Upon a White Horse' is a lovely book, Peter. Julian Cope, Mrs Edith Pretty, and George Mackay Brown. What more could a reader ask... Did you know 'Steeple Chasing' is in this quarter's Slightly Foxed magazine? That's four foxes now.

The Last Dinner Party were fab at Barrowlands last night, especially the kind of proggy five song run halfway through the set: I Hold Your Anger, Woman Is A Tree, Gjuha, Rifle, Big Dog. The thought also occurred that they'd do a great cover of This Corrosion. Wish I'd been reviewing this one.
