Republicans will blame Democrats for the shooter. Don't let them.

Democrats:
- allowed Afghans to seek refuge after aiding the U.S. and fleeing the Taliban

Republicans:
- approved shooter's refugee status in April 2025
- allowed shooter to access a gun
- placed NG soldiers in the line of fire

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

I have to give trump credit. He's finally done something that wasn't obvious he would do before the election. I don't think anyone saw him tearing down 1/3 of the White House...

He's going to tear down the entire East Wing, isn't he?

@pkryan.bsky.social @reprileyny.bsky.social Can you explain why you voted to honor the life of a hate filled, lying, racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynist? #NY18 and #NY19 deserve to know why.

"We should kill homeless people"
"the shooter was more MAGA than liberal"

How the fuck is the 2nd statement a fireable offense when the first isn't?

Just blatant corruption. Glad we didn't get the e-mail lady, or the nice black lady with a weird laugh...
Here’s a brief story, with receipts about Trump administration corruption and crypto industry collusion that WILL be investigated once the majority of the House is filled with people who take ethics and the Constitution seriously:

But are we sure it wasn't Charlie's gay lover that shot him? If that was a reasonable explanation for Paul Pelosi, why not now?

Normally I welcome R-to-D party switchers, but for those familiar with Mike Lawler and #NY17 politics, this is VERY shady stuff.

A new candidate - John Cappello - has joined the Dem primary here.

The only problem: Until a few days ago he was a registered Republican.

The one thing Dems absolutely cannot do is their stupid "go high" virtue signaling garbage. If the GOP wants to gin up anti-trans panic, go on TV and ask why they're protecting pedophiles. Keep asking why they covered up a child sex trafficking ring and don't stop asking

Republicans are reprising a key attack line from last year’s presidential race for elections this year and next – betting that anti-trans messaging will help them counter Democrats running on GOP-led cuts to Medicaid and other parts of Trump’s policy megabill.
Republicans reprise anti-transgender ‘Kamala is for they/them’ ads for the midterms | CNN Politics
Shortly after former North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper announced his plans to run for Senate, a group backing Republicans released an ad with an echo of last year’s presidential campaign.

Dog if we’re playing the gerrymandering game we need to go big or home. I want every district in New York State running into New York City so that every single one is blue. Not a single Republican from California. Every seat in Illinois runs through Chicago.

Abominable headline. Why didn't you just title the article "Oh Well, They Were Going to Die at Some Point Anyway"?

Here's how the headline should have read:

"GOP's Assault Weapon Fetish Takes 4 More Lives, Despite NY's Prevention Efforts."

Really interesting thread
So they found a 125,000 yr old Neanderthal fat rendering plant & I have thoughts.

Knowing that they loved saturated fat SO MUCH that they industrialized to get as much of it as humanly possible?

Makes me feel seen, heard, supported, etc www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

I'm glad that everyone is finally mad about trump and Epstein, but what the fuck? None of this is new! Why wasn't this an issue 10 years ago or last summer when this insanity could have been stopped?

Maybe more people should be noting that the "case against Bolsonaro" is him *plotting a January 6th-style coup of Brazilian democracy* after his son Eduardo came to America for January 6th, 2021 to *literally take notes* via secret meetings with Trump coup plotters, making him a January 6th witness?
Trump writes one of the most unhinged letters ever produced by an American president, demanding the right to interfere with Brazil’s case against Bolsinaro and threatening huge tariffs if they don’t let him walk free, and this your lede?

Given that it has been reported that the Times published the problematic Mamdani/Columbia story quickly to avoid being scooped by Christopher Rufo, I thought I’d re-up this post from last month about how frequently the Times quotes Rufo on a variety of issues.
In the last year, the Times has given Rufo the opportunity to opine 29 times on higher ed, transgender health care, national intelligence, student mental health, plagiarism, twitter's political dynamics, George Floyd, school vouchers, DEI, Donald Trump Jr, JD Vance, Project 2025, and Bari Weiss.
