remember, a college student who gets an F because she wrote "because Jesus says so" in an essay she didn't do any reading for is tyranny but a dean losing her new job because of her beliefs is freedom. what are you not getting about this.
The University of Arkansas's law school just withdrew the appointment of its new dean six days after hiring her because conservative politicians complained that she filed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court in support of transgender students

Culture warriors claim the scalp of Emily Suski, the would-be law school dean whose legal opinion on transgender athletes seems to have offended Arkansas officials.

Any Democratic votes to fund DHS later this month as Minneapolis is being terrorized by DHS is going to be a major slap in the face to Americans living here. Demand major reforms or shut the government down.

This is the sort of statement that was expected from every university president and law firm partner over the last year. That those statements weren’t made played a huge part in where we are now and people will remember.
Jerome Powell: "This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation."

I think this is a helpful post, for understanding not only the Venezuela attack also, e.g., the national guard deployment in 2025 and its mysterious end (outside of DC).

Their stated policy aim of a broad, brutal mass deportation program is not fake. But the videos—the content—is more important.
Thinking again about how the administration sees its self as content creators first as it becomes clearer that we don't have a plan in Venezuela

The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

Since Trump overthrew Maduro he hasn't shut the fuck up about bombing Mexico & Cuba and stealing Greenland. He feels emboldened. We need a wall of resistance and a backlash like he's never seen or he'll keep marauding looting and pillaging his way to the 4th reich.

You aren’t meant to be this disciplined, this self-sacrificing to survive. The environment is supposed to support good living. We can have that. You are not a failure. That is politics.

That is all.

From Trump's perspective, Venezuelans' rights, interests, and agency are absolutely irrelevant. We--the US--"need to be surrounded by safe countries" and we--the US--"also need the energy out of the ground." This is "when you're a star, they let you do it" but as foreign policy.
