🚨OUR NEW AD JUST DROPPED 🚨

Washington is giving billionaires the easy ride—while hard-working Tennessean get a rough ride due to bad policies.

I’m running for Congress to change that. Vote for @aftynbehn.bsky.social beginning on Nov. 12 to shake up Washington. Election Dec. 2nd

we're all tired of the, frankly, bullshit candidates that tend to run in seats like this. R+10 often gets you some suit with rich friends and a platform written by someone who's never been to the state. That's not what's happening here.

Aftyn's the real deal.

I added a calendar on my spreadsheet (3rd tab). We can focus our voices to flood offices in an organized way. Reach out to as many as you can. All of this is bigger than a “I only represent my constituents” issue.
Use/share the sheet (bit.ly/Nokings). Speak up. Unrelentingly. We deserve better ❤️‍🩹🤍💙

🇺🇸 A Different Kind of Outrage 😲

Everone at Foggy Bottom knows Dink. The joke is that he joined right after Benjamin Franklin. Most recently, after almost 4 decades of service, he was elected to head AFSA (the union for U.S. diplomats).

He was fired yesterday.

The disrespect is intentional.

Rev Barber has been a leader in the struggle for democracy since long before Indivisible formed. Was honored to have him open up the D.C. Hands Off rally with 100k people earlier this month. When he speaks, we listen - his moral leadership is an inspiration.
BREAKING: Police just surrounded Rev. William Barber, prominent activist and pastor, as he and others prayed in the U.S. Capitol Rontunda.

Police then expelled everyone (including press!) from the Rotunda to (presumably) arrest them.

I've covered protests here a lot. Never seen anything like it.

@teamrat.bsky.social & I argue, soil science, though crucial for solving environmental challanges, should not be defined solely by its applications

Fargo-Moorhead had over 2000 people show up for our Hands Off protest. It was about four times more than what we expected! And tons of support of honking from the traffic driving by💪🏽 thanks @indivisible.org

@schumer.senate.gov If you vote for cloture you are a stain on this country’s history that will never go away. You are willingly passing power to a tyrant in waiting, and you are a disgrace to every oath of office any senator has ever sworn. Your legacy will be one of cowardice and contempt.

Big difference between the two also being that FDR pushed his agenda through the correct way — through Congress— and his programs impacted many people in a good way.

this story fills me with rage. no one deserves to be treated like this. we are truly being governed by the worst people on earth
JUST IN: Another medical horror story in an affidavit from a USAID employee stationed overseas. Says his pregnant wife was not medevac-ed for emergency health care because of directives from DC. Took intervention of a U.S. senator to reverse — but was too late. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

I maxed out my credit card, emptied my savings account, and took out a loan to move from Alabama to Bethesda, MD. I don’t even qualify for unemployment since I’ve only worked at NIH for a month. I will be financially and medically devastated.

Seeking suggestions for anywhere that’s hiring!!
Today, along with 2,000 other NIH employees, I had to clear out my office 😭

It was truly the honor of my life to work with such incredibly passionate people focused on improving human health. I’ve never experienced a more positive culture where *everyone* cared about their job and serving others.

Another example of what cutting science funding is doing to our leading university research programs in the U.S.: dismantling things like the Soybean Innovation Lab at UIUC, which have made US crop yields dramatically higher.

I don’t post often, you may have noticed. But today I watched a film I’m doing a small role in. It’s called The Electric State. In my humble opinion it is a gorgeous, fun, often funny and ultimately moving film gorgeously performed by my colleagues and masterfully directed by Russo Bros. Hope u love
