American democracy has two major steps.

My daughter and I visited the house we lived in when she was a baby, and she was shocked a 29-year-old Navy guy could afford a nice house in a safe neighborhood.
That wasn’t crazy in 1996 — but today, a nice house is out of reach for so many young people. That has to change.

To get a new, opposition party ruler in government, you used to need a whole violent revolution every time. Fighting against an actual trained army. Which generally failed.
Democracy let's us replace rulers without that.

Like every water shortage story, "agriculture" is mentioned as a foot note and not the overwhelming force consuming the vast majority of water.
You can say that again. I'm just now finding out about this! A lot of people are probably going to die if Tehran is abandoned: from the drought, from the chaos of the evacuation and the conditions of the places they'll end up, and from the fucking morality police watching like hungry wolves.
